[ERROR] The memory could not be "read".

Post by Slippery » Mon Oct 25, 2004 2:18 pm

Application popup: MyEQName (Ctrl+Alt+2): eqgame.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x010b813e" referenced memory at "0xfffffffc". The memory could not be "read".
Yes I know I need to drop a crash dump here, and I will get to that, but I can't at the moment. Pressing Cancel on the button to start Debugging only brings up a window that says
JIT Debugging failed with the following error: Access is Denied
I'm looking into adding my user to the Debugging Users and see if that helps, I will get back to you folks on this. I don't know if it's an MQ2 or WinEQ error, but I get it since I installed VS.NET I believe. Since I started putsing around with MQ2 and such.

Thanks

Update:

I did a defragment, set my user account to the debugging users group, checked ON indexing service for the hard drive, also enabled tagged queuing and synchronous transfers, and did a scan disk of all my hard disks.

I haven't had an error yet. Not even 3 boxing on the same machine. Wierd.

Sorry for the first post, I know it wasn't very helpful, I read through all the things and used search, i'm not a dumbass.

This happens when I try to three box... it used to be 2box, but now 2boxing is working right now, and 3boxing won't.

Looks to me like less of an MQ crash and more something driver/system related (and the fact that it happens when you move from 2-box to 3-box), although MQ could very well be eating up more memory or doing other things to contribute to it.

I don't touch nasty things like DX9blahblah.dll though, so somebody else might have more input.

Find out if this still happens when you remove all non-essential plugins from macroquest.ini to further isolate the problem, and be sure to mention if you're using any other 3rd party stuff like eqw when you respond, as I know there are one or two issues there with known workarounds.

Yes, this is all done with WinEQ Lite. I have enabled EQPlayNice in with WinEQ.

Disabling EQPN doens't help, and I've narrowed it down to either MQ2 or EQ thats making the problem. WinEQ is not, because I can use WinEQ for two of the accounts and the 3rd, use EQW and i'll still get the same error.

So, does it happen when you have straight eq + wineq x3?

Good question Fearless, and strangely enough, i just tried it and I get a pop error saying "No 3D Devices Found"

The 2nd time I tried it, I got no popup about 3d devices but simply the memory can't be read error, even before getting to the disclaimer page... the window didn't even open.

I'm running a radeon 9800 pro and I've got the latest drivers. I feel this is some sort of haunting video problem. I tried to re-install DirectX9 but no luck.

Anyone else have any suggestions? I'd like to three box.

Tweaked your bios? If so I'd set it back to defaults. Maybe go back a driver set or two.

Also, I would check around on the wineq forums at lavishsoft and see what Lax has to say.

Lax did have the solution, woot.

I'm all set now. My 1024 mb ram was getting chewed up severely, even with everything disabled but sound and luclin models. That is what was causing the problem.

I disabled my luclin models (:() and everything is running smoothly.

Thanks alot for helping me guys, I appreciate it, and thank you Lax for the great solution. I think i'll have to buy a year sub to MMOTools to thank ya for enhancing my EQ experience :)
