Incorrect Version

Post by jaqk » Mon Oct 04, 2004 1:40 pm

Hey everyone ive read about every post on this board and from what ive read i need an older version of macroquest. Does anyone have one they can send me ? I started out by downloading , compiling and got macroquest2 all up and running untill i start eq then it tells me i have the incorrect version and shuts down. The version of macroquest i downloaded is the one given on sept 24th, ( still the current version ) im on a u.s. server and dont see in the eq file where i can adjust the date or version number to make them match. Anyone know a simple fix to this or do i have to install an older version as i read in some older posts on this board? I have made sure to patch all expansions fully and verfied im using the newest macroquest2, any other reasons i may see this error message? The manual dont help much in this area.

the only thing you need an older version for is if you're trying to use mq2 with eqemu

Why must I be in a good mood when an easy target like this appears out of nowhere screaming "Flame Me??"

*sigh*

1) Delete you MQ2 folder
2) Re-Download the newest zip
3) Run AQ2Auth
4) Compile
5) Run MacroQuest
6) Shut up, and read the directions next time.

... and just to throw it in so I'm consistant...

You are a Dumbshit.

Ive tried that several times and yes i have read the directions. I have redownloaded it 2x , recompiled it and tried to run it and its still giving me the same error message. My download of the latest version was done yesterday and one today. I completly deleted the old one before recompiling a new one. I did read the directions and it worked just as it said it would for the compiling process, everything seems smooth untill i try to run it and then i get that message.

The absolute only reason that an "incorrect client" error comes up is when the date / time stamp in the eqgame.h (from MQ2Main folder) does not match the date / time stamp on eqgame.exe (from your eq folder).

If you are positive that you are running the correct MQ, start checking the eqgame.exe. When was the last time you patched eq? Or, is this to get to a private server?

Everyone else does not have this problem and you are not giving us anything to help you with. "I did everything right and it does not work" is no help at all. That gives us ZERO information.

MQ2 works. Everyone here is using it with no problems.
If MQ2 is not working for you, YOU are screwing up. Read the instuctions, use the latest zip and make sure your EQ client is fully patched.

Thanks fearless for the post. I guess what i really should be asking is if the compiling had some how got messed up could it give this message? Thats really what im after i guess considering i got no errors and all went as planned when compiling and i can start up mq2 and get the icon on my desktop. According to fearless post it must only be those 2 things, if thats true then this dont make sense because its not a private server and it is posatively the newest patch and i have the latest patch from eq.

Non-english server? Well, more specifically, are you on a European server?
What led you to believe that you needed an older versions?
What is the date at the top of your eqgame.h file in the mq2main directory?
What is the date of your eqgame.exe in the everquest directory?

Go into your mq directory and find the MQ2Main/eqgame.h, find the lines that match these:

Code: Select all

#define __ClientName                              "eqgame"
#define __ExpectedVersionDate                        "Sep 21 2004"
#define __ExpectedVersionTime                        "12:36:44"
If you have anything other than that, you have the wrong eqgame.h and quite possibly the wrong zip file.

If you have that, then there is something else fucked up.

EDIT: European servers, didn't even think of that.

Thanks , some how i am downloading an older version even though the first one i downloaded was 2 days ago and it even has the same file name. The eq h file says aug 13th which is obviously incorrect. Ill download it again and before i bug anyone again ill check that file. Thanks a ton for pointing me there.
