Yes, and close to new registration all together... the community is big enough, and RPGExpert is really fucking over the responsible users of MQ2...

I posted no for one reason alone. When idots post the same lame question and then get the predicatble response theres a good chance they will stfu and never bother posting again.

Locking the help and general won't stop them from posting in the bug forum or other areas. But if the patch day posters get a bit scorched they are likely to go away anyway, so maybe we need a Patch Day forum where anything goes

Compelled..

to make this post, albeit my first post, I would sincerely hope that it strongly deviates from anything remotely ignorant.

I just registered to the forums after having heard about MacroQuest for quite sometime now and having started playing EQ once again after a year "vacation."

I have like many others, contributed to the active developers of MacroQuest, even before I downloaded/compiled/installed the software. I did this because I too have written programs in the past and know all too well the pains (and rewards) of producing/developing a piece of software.

I hope to become a member who can and will contribute to the community. I have voted Yes to allowing posts, although, not to disallowing registration altogether. I would be in semi-contradiction to my own actions if I had. When I was developing (Renegade BBS software, some may know of it, while others may not) software, I know first handedly how many "twits" (as myself and all previous developers of RG BBS referred to them as) exist and post the most assinine posts, though believe it or not, some of them are quite bright, they just seem to have their heads up their asses when they make their first post.

All in all, you can't always or atleast really shouldn't judge a book by its cover. After time, tolerance and some knowledge, a few (notice, I said a few) "twits" may be the next to write a complex script or donate $50+ to the 'cause.'

As aforementioned, I certainly will make every attempt to become a contributing member of the community. I'm certain it won't take too long for me to learn the scripting language and write a few of my own which I will share and if just one person benefits from such scripts, I'll be happy.

Personally I think the idea of closing registration completely is immature and moronic. You got yours so to hell with anyone else.

Over the years of MQ1/MQ2 we've had some awesome coders and scripters come into the scene and make some huge contributions to the project. If we had decided back in MQ1 to close the community we would have lost some great features and scripts.

I have been using MQ2 for some time now.. I would hate to see it closed to others. I think there are pleanty of good ideas out there that have yet to be realized. If the "newbie" post are annoying just ignore them, or flame em.. seems like some folks get a kick out of it.

Just my 2cp.

Thank you for a great program.

Edit: I also took this time to donate. I really appreciate the work that goes into this program and the fun I get out of it.

I don't mena to close them altogether.... I just mean on patch days so we don't have RPGExperts new influx of morons who still ask how to compile, or why it won't work on patch day... I'm sick of seeing them here... after the new release, open it back up, and by the next patch, it's likely that anyone who stays with the community will learn enough to not ask those dumbass questions that RPGexpert inevitably spawns in their minds.

I dunno in the last 3 or 4 patches the only people that I've seen that acctually asked that were people pretending to be stupid.

Wasn't pretending to be stupid, was specifically making a post that looked like a complaint that would draw such posters to it and make them realize that it isn't broken, it is the normal evolution of MQ2 at each patch cycle.

Mostly, I think it works.

Maybe an idea wouyld be to not allow access to the main section of the boards (IE the macro / plugin / UI sections) until the user has been registered for 3 weeks. That would kill the average RPGexpert player and it would actualy demand that people either wait 3 weeks for full acess or donate for full acess.

Maybe allow acess to general and announcements and thats about it. Everything else is a required 3 weeks registered. If they have friends with acess then they obviously have some one that knows the ropes decent enough to be registered for 3 weeks.

whatever the case thats my thoughts
I can't believe you had the gall to bitch about that and be like oh lax doesnt have a job because hes a DICKFACE. Yeah im a dickface, because you're a fucking COCKSUCKER. OHNOES.
