SLOOOOOOOOOW Motion!!!

Post by dravidiankayne » Sun Jun 27, 2004 11:20 am

Okay, I'm playing EQ on my laptop and lately it's been running slow in many zones. I've finally pinpointed the problem to be MQ2. If I exit it, then the game runs perfectly smooth. BTW: I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 Laptop, so I don't think that my laptop can't handle it.....usually I run 2 EQ Windows at once at perfect speed. For instance, in PoKnowledge the game runs perfectly smooth, but then I zone into GD and it goes so slooow that it appears on others computers that I'm just warping all over the place.

I'm not sure if this is a bug that's already been noted. I looked for it but hadn't seen it. I'm not sure if maybe MQ2 has a memory leak that's eating my resources, or maybe just data overflow causing lag, but it's really annoying. If anybody knows how to fix this, PLEASE let me know.

Thanks.~

What do you have your fps FG and BG set to?

Only thing I can think of is you have it set too low and it 'appears' that you are warping.

First to answer your question, I have the settings at default, which I believe is 30 fps? I'm not really sure what the default is though.

And to clarify, it's not chopping on my computer. It goes VERY smooth.....even too smooth, to the point that is goes sloooooooow. My friends online tell me that they see my character run in a straight line (when I'm walking) and then disappear from where I was and retrace half my steps. So I'm not the one warping, but the lag caused from MQ2 is causing me to appear to "others" that I am warping very suspiciously.

I hope this clarification helps in what I'm looking for.

Alright I figured it out. Thanks for the pointer, it was the FPS. I set it to 120 fps and now it runs perfect in every zone, w/2 windows open too!
