Just saw some one with a level 4 cleric he was powerlevelling on my server.
The smart thing about it is that the name of the cleric is such that there can be no doubt as to the use of macroquest.
Lmao won't belong afor that account gets the boot.

Is his name "Omgiusemq"? Cause if not I doubt they will ban it. Might be "Clericbot" or "omghealbot" but they may just assume the guy is boxing the char in.. not uncommon.

So does
EULA violations (i.e., selling accounts, selling in-game money or items, using third party programs, "macroing")
SOE does not issue warnings for EULA violations
Mean that you just get banned no questions asked?

Just means that the Guides have no real power, they'd have to get a GM to actually do something (as if this is a revelation). Which it is doubtful a GM would actually come for something like that. I'd imagine the only threat is if you get /report'ed by a player, not a Guide who ran across your bot's wierd name.

Keep in mind that guides have several ways of communicating with GMs. All these rules really mean is the guide doesn't interact with the player for these issues, instead they pass the buck to a GM (who, employed by SOE, has a more firm legal standing to take action).
Having no power and having no authority don't necessarily mean the same thing. Communication is power, and someone without authority but who does have someone with authority listening on the other end has power.

SOE does not issue warnings for EULA violations
<looks around for ChickenLittle>
I know of 3 different people that have been given at least 4 warnings each for macro use (in recent history) and have not been banned. Just because they *can* does not mean the will. Heck I tested the process with an account from a friend that quit and deleted all his characters. I made a char then leveled him to 50 (less than a day) - then ran him around doing most everything in the EULA that was a violation. Took me over a week of log'n on and getting kicked off before I got the account banned (oh btw - sorry to anyone that took offense at my rantings and cussing and such - if you where witness).
Long story short - they have the *rules* to ban, they just don't unless you are very serious about getting banned, or are doing something that has a massive effect on other players or the game balance as a whole~!

I have one warning from about a year ago for the use of the original macroquest. It took me a while to finally figure out how I got caught. They were allegedly 'seeing something on the client', and i knew they were bullshitting. They were sort of right, but made it sound a lot more like packet sniffing than this ---- >
I petitioned someone as soon as i loaded one of my chars, with the fucking text 'macroquest is now active' in the first 20 lines of the log.
doesnt happen anymore, thank fuck. i never petition anymore )
Yours,
SecretToo (for a fucking good reason).

Man, that really sucks. Makes me that much more happy about the MQ2ChatWnd so that kind of thing can't happen accidentally.

Even before the recent Guide program changes, Guides weren't supposed to issue warnings or soulmarks for EULA violations. Why? Because they have no way to prove it is a EULA violation. Simply put, they don't have the tools or access to find out. They have no way to check server logs, no way to freeze your client and no way to see much beyond what you see in game.
Now, they COULD have issued soulmarks saying "so and so admitted to share account" but that kind of note has no real weight unless the person pissed off a GM and decided to use that as grounds for a suspension and the Guide shouldn't have told the player they were issuing the soulmark.
Basically Guides have 1 real role on the servers now ... Handle and run server events i.e. quests, weddings etc. Every server should be seeing a lot more events (last time I asked a guide what a server was supposed to be staffed at, it was around 12 guides and 2 senior guides) ... that means there should be 14 or more quests running on a server per week. Now they can still give warnings if you are disrupting a quest but that's pretty much the only reason.

Firstly, Guide can't be loged w/o a GM.. When there is a guide, there is a GM!
And yes, Guides do have lots of ways to get in touch w/ GM very easely..
Then, I used to be a Guide, and I saw another Guide reporting a player who was trying to convert Plats into Euro (was On Sebilis..) And the GM told us in the /PR (Guide/GM channel) that the guy will be banned immediately!
Dunno if he was or not...

Mallet, I think what you MEANT to say was ... "An Apprentice Guide can't be logged on without a Full Guide/Senior Guide or in rare cases a GM"
Guides regularly log on w/o a GM on the server. If they didn't, what would the point of having guides be? If a GM is always on a server w/ a Guide, why not just have the GM handle everything?
Were you a Guide long? Did you make it to full guide? Perhaps you were a guide long enough ago that that rule changed.

Actually, even apprentices can be alone on server now, as long as they are anon and only do events and stuff like that.
