What's the general concensus?
Is unattended macroing's risk(possible banning) too high to meet the reward?

It depends on alot. Is it risky? You bet.. can you do things that help? sure... Let me give you an example of something I saw today..
I edited this...no real names etc. If you're gonna put events and acting in your scripts you need to be original...you need to have timers that don't spam like this one. Now...because of this person...expect this macro to either get nerfed real soon or this person to lose an acct or 2.
Funny thing is, I know this person has the Anti-GM code in their script...when they left it unattended it hit a loop on the emote/random says portion of the macro and spammed the hell outta the area of the zone this bot was in. I know it has the GM code cause I shut the bot down and was able to get it to log and stop the spamming...
If you can't edit and upkeep your own scripts.. you have no business macroing unattended IMO. If you come here and beg for scripts you probably don't need them. Hence my bad attitude towards some noobs and their getting banned and screwing up their accts etc...
