map feature for "nomap" zones - revisited

So I had asked about whether MQ2 could implement a feature to display maps for nomap zones. So I was told by another forum member that MQ2 doesn't do that. So I searched the board and found a post by Lax saying that MQ2 wouldn't do that because it is a cheat.

I have no doubts that MQ2 will not have the map feature in any zone. What I am unclear about is why the official response is "no map feature for you because it is a cheat", when a good portion of MQ2 is a cheat (i.e. /mapfilter etc).

Seems odd that one kind of cheat is ok while another kind is a very bad cheat?

At least a million posts are asking this same fucking question, and we say the same thing every time.

We as developers need to draw the line somewhere as far as what gets spoken about on these boards, or what we're going to implement. We've repeatedly stated that this is over the line, and we're not going to give it to you. Why do people keep asking?

If it wasnt this, it would be "why is warping considered cheating" or "why is an ultravision hack cheating". The real point here is that MacroQuest is a huge grey area in a black and white world. We get to decide where our line is, and you can quit fucking whining about it. If you want a feature we say is taboo, you make it, and you keep your mouth shut or discuss it elsewhere. That's really all there is to it. End of discussion.
