Two EQ sessions on one PC, one "falls asleep" (Gen

Post by NotHere » Fri Jan 09, 2004 6:05 am

Hi.

I'm running two EQ sessions on one machine, and have a problem the one not having focus seems to "fall asleep". EDIT: After posting, I realized Im not sure if this is just a problem with Genbot V9. If it is, flame away :)

My primary session is running in the front in an EQW window, and the other one is running in the background as a normal EQ in windowed mode. MQ2 is installed and is working just fine in both sessions. I then run Genbot in the secondary session, and it works just fine.

But after a period of time without focus to the sec. session, Genbot just stops responding. If I do a quick ALT-TAB to the sec. sesssions and back to the primary sessions, Genbot resumes operation (and actually does all the things Ive been trying to get it to do).

Is this a known issue, and if yes, is there a way to get around it?

I did it by taking a copy of my Everquest folder to another place on my harddisk, then just start Everquest from that folder. May be an easier or more efficient way to do it, but I was lazy and in a non-experimentive mood. :D

You can run two EQ processes on the same computer using the same directory structure. Just alt-enter out of the first EQ and click and start another EQ session ..it'll patch and everything and you'll enter the new account information. After everything is initialized, you can alt-tab between the two processes no problem.

Something worth noting is that if you have Windows XP you will have to get the Microsoft Windows Application Compatability Toolkit and disable the entry for EverQuest before it will allow you to alt+tab out of the game.
