Looking for some ideas on how to do a rogue script. I have read the melee and monk scripts and they are straightforward. However, I am having problems figuring out how to get a rogue into position for backstabbing.
I would assume for such a script that there is already a tank /taunting. I can see how one can get the heading of the mob, but determining the position to move to from the heading/loc of the mob is not straightforward without some trigonometry. Not that I mind doing some easy trig, just that the equations are not available in this scripting language at present.
In the interim I see some potential solutions-- do some standard algebra on the tank and the mob, determine the x/y diffs and sub these from the mob to get the place to move the rogue and then /face. Problem is one would have to constantly interrogate the position of the tank and the mob and I can only see a way to easily interrogate one's loc without having to retarget each time. The other problem is that if another tank /taunts it will ruin the backstab positioning.
Another way would be to assume that if you know the heading of the mob you could just make some guesstimates on how to reposition the rogue and then move him there then /face.
So, unless I am missing something is there:
1. A way to integrrogate the position of a mob you do not have targetted.
2. Another way to determine the position a rogue should be at?
Thoughts appreciated. Any chance of getting some trig into the equation/calc routine some release not too far away?

This macro was created once before and A LOT of time went into it but the macro was somehow deleted :\
Sorry Sparr for your code loss and for the dude who first made the script.
/me mourns.

Well, the obvious question-- anyone happen to have even an OLDER version of the former rogue script available?

I was sad that my code was lost but now that trig is in you can just do a :
/call MYWALKTOLOCSUB $calc($target(y)-$cos($target(heading))*10) $calc($target(x)-$sin($target(heading))*10)
/face
and, assuming that you have a Sub MYWALKTOLOCSUB that takes you a specified y x coordinate, you will be behind the mob and facing it.
PS: This wont work until next version, current version uses radians for trig so you need to use $target(heading)/57 inside the trig functions.
PPS: Yes, I know 57 is an inaccurate deg2rad conversion value but backstab works in a large arc and i dont feel like opening calculator.

Thank you Sparr that was very informative.
I did not know that trig worked here. Is there a list of the math functions somewhere in the documentation?
