How do I get started?

A friend told me about this site and I came to check it out. I must say I'm intrigued by what I have seen. The problem is, I have no programming background. How would I get started? What would I need to get started? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hey Amadeous no need to mention those old posts....anyways I figured out how to compile it, like 30 seconds after that last post I made, and now I'm learning C++. Huzzah! It was difficult to get started cause the book I have is about 4-5 years old but I'm starting to understand some of this coding stuff. Its hella fun. Thanks agan Amadeous.
