Lag might not be all MQ?

On Wednesday, April 23rd, at 3AM PDT, (11AM GMT), all EverQuest servers will be brought down for a scheduled patch.
The estimated downtime is 6 hours.

This patch should fix a number of lag related issues currently in the game.

Eh, it's just an SOE excuse. They want to patch in a new memchecker.

One of the problems with source only, they can look at the code and figure out how we are getting around the checks much easier than if they had to decompile a binary and reverse engineer.

Wasn't the source always freely downloadable anyway?

Yeah, but they weren't paying as much attention, or trying to find ways to break it. My theory is they are experimenting with anti-hack code now so they can implement it in EQ2, whenever that actually gets released.

You are more than likely right about then watching how MQ gets around there memory checker.

If SOE is reading this I have a suggestion. Take a page from Ulitma Online. Back ages ago there were many hack programs, UOExtreme, UOAssist, and ECT. Instead of spending many many hours trying to STOP it all together what they did was pick one APPROVE IT and work with them. Most ppl don’t really want to CHEAT but they do like things that take allot of the pain out of playing. I enjoy EQ soooo much more with the use of MQ. To be honest I almost never use the /who npc # command with /face command.

One more note to SOE. I have been playing MMPOG since the REALM Beta. People have always wanted an edge over other ppl. You will NEVER have the man power to stop them all or even most of them. BUT if you pick one work with them make it buyable or downloadable. I think that you will find that you will get better results.

If anyone disagrees feel free to flame it is just my opinion. We all know what what opinions are like. heheh
