Another "can't get MQ to work" question

Post by Bones » Thu Jan 16, 2003 1:53 pm

Hiya all.. I'm an experienced MQ user.. no really I am! :)

Anyway.. I'm trying to get another computer set up to use MQ. I followed the directions in the readme:

1) Unzip MacroQuest somewhere, preserving directory structure for Macro subfolder
2a) Windows 9x/ME will have to install ActivePerl (and it wouldn't hurt on Windows 2000/XP either)
2b) or replace eqlib.dll with the version in NonPerl.
3) For new installations, copy macroquest.ini.dist to macroquest.ini

All offsets have been updated and work on my other PC.

I am using XP so I did not do step 2a.

When I run MQ, I get it in the sys tray, but it is NOT active when I log into EQ.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

LOL, good point. :)
I just didn't want to come across as a total newb.. I've been running MQ for 6-mos now.. with no issues that I couldnt' fix.

yes, I did do that rename.. still no workie.

Interesting that I did NOT have to rename that file on another computer and MQ still works like a charm.

Do step 2a or 2b

Btw you can run MQ without macroquest.ini it just will not know what directory to look for your macros and other neto stuff =) like /gmlist

I did 2b

Did you check to make sure you're not filtering the macroquest text out?

Running the latest downloadable version from the main page. Yep, I have the very latest offsets as well.

On this computer I did not execute step 2b. I didn't do it (2a or 2b) on the PC that's been working well with MQ for a long time... maybe I did it originally and forgot. I suppose that could be my problem. I'll try that and report back.

I assume step 2b must be done for XP users as well?

Thanks for the help getting this GREEEEAT program running again. :)

sorry for the long delay in getting back to you all.. it's been HELL at work lately.. no time for games. :(

I tried using the non Perl .dll to no avail.

I just don't understand.. is it common for MQ to just NOT work on an XP box? This is the first I've had any issues at all.

Thank you all for your continued assistance in trying to get this working!
