Telnet with Win ME

Post by Sensei » Tue Dec 10, 2002 1:07 am

I just downloaded and began working with MQ tonight.

By simply following the readme that came with the zip, MQ wasn't about to work, so I scoured the boards and after:

1) Reverting to Perl 5.6 ipo 5.8
2) Renaming the ini file
3) Loading old offset 0512

I was finally able to make in-game commands work. It is really neat. A lot of in-game information that is great to see. Kudos to the devs.

Now, after doing all this and editing the telnet config info, I find myself in the same boat as many others in this forum: Telnet won't work.

I have tried all the suggestings. I have tried using the actual IP of the eq machine, using localhost, using 127.1.1.1, tried using a raw telnet prog (putty), tried using different ports (currently using 6123).

/telnet in game shows the open port and it appears to be working.

I am not currently running any firewalls.

Now, based on what I have posted here and what other Win ME users are experiencing, I have come to the conclusion that the telnet portion of MQ will not currently work on Windows ME.

Anyone else using Win ME and currently able to use the Telnet feature?

Hi,

I'll be following this thread (and the one I still have open from two days ago) reall closely.

I'm experiencing exactly the same thing.
Please tell us if you have MQ/telnet working in Win ME and what you did to get it working.
