Good method for 50+ solo farming items for PP?

Post by zedisdeadbaby » Mon Dec 09, 2002 6:21 pm

I want to make some PP at the bazaar, can anyone give me ideas where I can get stuff to sell there?

I've been kill named mobs across a few zones, but the PP just isn't rolling in fast enough...

My main's a druid. Don't ever let anyone tell you druids suck. I personally fubared mine at creation, and even with 90+ points of wis gear on he only has 180 wis w/ c3. Oops. I have managed to solo every level since 19, and it's come relatively easily. It gets a little monotonous, quadding the nasties, but it's good loot and great xp.

It's even better with modifications used from forever-hacking.net, but mostly cuz they can't catch you.

Here's my list of good things for a high level (ok, 35+ to farm)

First off, you can farm high ticket stuff like wurmy's and lammy's and such, but you dunna wanna do that. You want the droppable stuff that's used in high level tradeskilling. My server is ancient and just about everyone has a 55+ alt...altho I do not. Therefore, prices on my server are LOW.

Go to Eastern Wastes. This is like the mid level farmers heaven.
~Tundra Kodiak Pelts...I quadded them at 34, HQ pelts sell for up to (shh...500p) in bazaar, 100-200 if you want a fast sell.
~Snow Cougars...ok, so there's more in IC, but I prefer EW. Again, HQ pelts sell for about 100p, and they stack. These guys also drop Bloodstained Fangs...decent little piercer with a good proc.
~Snow Giants...they drop several things, including, I think, the skulls necessary for...skull ale...but they're also good for up to 40p on a kill. They hit HARD, be careful.
~Ry'Gorr orcs...drop velium weapons and plats. Some are casters, but they suck. Shaman nukes for about 112 dd. That's with no resist spell on.
~Coldain's....I haven't tried these guys since they're mid-level 40's, but they drop decent armor and coldain velium weaps. In case you don't know, coldain at least *used* to be the only weaps which proc'd at level 1. That was a while ago tho...
~Ry'Gorr Elite Guards....drop Ry'Gorr armor. Nice armor, better stats than crusty. Sells for up to a couple hundred pp in bazaar.

Go to Oasis....This zone's largely dead since Paludal came around.
~I just sort of tried quadding specs here, and the loot is great. They used to cast fear back in the day, and a nasty dot...but they don't now. If you /who npc spectre them, they show warrior, and after about 200 quads they've never casted on me. They used to slaughter me all the time as a noob though. They drop rusty scythes (destroy), bronze scythes (a couple pp with 54 cha), scythes (11p with 54 cha), platinum, and gems. Oh, EVERY ONE has a scythe of some sort. I generally make around 15-20p a quad.

Go to Rathe.
~Duh. Giants. Cyclopses. Etc.
~I've seen 55+ epic necros farming this zone as fast as they pop, there's 10 HG's, spawn time is 2 mins on each. They drop fine steel and up to 40pp each, my biggest take ever was something like 42pp 120 gold off of one kill. *nice* You'll get used to destroying silver and copper in this zone.

Go to Commons, Qeynos, Qeynos Hills, North Ro, East FP, the Karanas, any zone with bears EXCEPT Surefall Glade. Farm HQ pelts. You can farm the others as well, but it's not really worth it. On my server HQ's sell for about 80p.

Go to HHK...farm gnoll stuff, fangs I think? and sell them to twinkies. You can get a couple pp each.

Go to Blackburrow. Do the same. These are MUCH lower level gnolls than in HHK.

Go back to commons....farm belts from the orcs. My level 34 aoe nuke will kill 4 at a time. These sell for 2-3pp each, and can usually be sold in the zone.

Look up the e boots or j boots quest. Do all the farming but DON'T turn them in. Sell the kit for 3-5k.

Do the same with the POTC kit for druids. Sells for 8k on my server.

If you're a pure caster and you do your research, get people to give you writs, words, etc, and make spells. Sell them. Nice money this way.

There, that's all the secrets I'm willing to divulge. I sorta think I should get admin status for this post, lol, it's better than anything you'll find on powerleveling.com, hehe.

P.S. I still run cheese.mac while I sleep. It's a bonus 1k a night. But...no...I don't do it afk...

The problem with posting in the middle of the night is that your post is never seen by anyone in the recent posts list, hehe.

I wanted kudos for my plat hunting guide. Boo hoo.

p.s. I'm still confused that the allmighty Lizard is only like level 30 or something. /boggle.

Salutations,
kudos on your hunting guide... um... well.. I (L124RD) do something that I'm sure that none of you do, it's called, playing the game... thats right... playing... its this thing where you do things other then hunting like, RPing with someone who has no clue what RP is (though they managed to use /roleplay) roleplaying with GMs, wandering around and exploring, corpse retrieving by going the long way around, helping newbs... etc... though you're right, I do find it amazing... I have alot of play time on my chars, log in almost every day, been playing since about 2 weeks after it came out... etc...

I didn't mean that you *should* be more oober, lol. I've been playing two years and my highest is 39, lol.

I *meant* that's it's interesting that you are a good at all the little pieces of EQ that many people level 50+ don't know/understand.

I think it was a compliment or something. ;)

Read cheese.mac thread

Post by Malachi » Tue Dec 31, 2002 8:21 pm

Read the cheese.mac thread. It makes me 117pp an hour. :)

HE chanter, int and cha like crazy, two opal steins.

Int's like 120 or something, cha like 165.

He happened to already be a master baker from the days of shark fillets...I'd worked him up to it, however if your int is high enuf and you have mebbe 40p to drop on it, you can skill up on cheese alone. It's trivial at like 135 or something, obviously higher skill means fewer failures= more profit for you.

Fippy turned me on to using the "Velious" interface to maximize potential. Press f10 in old UI until the windows are there but transparent. This added like a whopping 5p an hour to my total. /shrug.

Just a warning, all profit is made in gold. You CAN buy and sell stacks of rennet, it will buy them w/ gold and give you plat back, however it can take a long time to cycle 20,000 gold...unless you have a buddy to help you transport to the bankeroo.

Happy new year kids,

Actually its trivial at 84 and cheese all by its self, starting with 22 baking skill, trivializes rather quickly.

Using a dummy acct and a cleric with 195 wis and using two opal steins + ally faction, I make 97pp an hour. My graffix card is older and tends to lend some graffix lag, or I believe that my profits would be greater.

However, 97pp an hour is very respectable, and as long as I dont get over 4000gp, banking is still doable. Heh, furious strength and Yaulp helps with this too..

Overkill....

Post by Malachi » Wed Jan 01, 2003 1:21 pm

So cheese is trivial at 84. Get your skill to about 120 on fish rolls, and you'll see a large increase in profit. Well, I say large...mebbe 20p an hour.

I'm pretty sure that your int is overkill there. My chanter got to trivial the old fashioned way awfully fast with only 5 points added to int, the rest to cha. Of course, if you're looking for fast trivials, I guess int is the way to go, as long as cha is over 135---but I'm thinking int is the same. Skills won' t be learned any faster above 135...I think.

You dunna need ally faction if your cha is over 135. All they have to do is be willing to trade w/ you...and granger will trade with most everyone, it's the people in the back who won't. They can be apprehensive, and if cha's over 135 you won't get more money than if they're amiable w/ ya.

I'm just nitpicking here, but....oh well.

Panthers are the way to go

Post by L124RD » Sat Jan 04, 2003 6:25 am

Salutations,
copied this so I could delete a useless topics...
Space-Boy wrote:Go to WL, if youre using macroquest, use /who npc haze and find haze panthers, if none are up do /tar panther and kill kill kill... black panther skins + a few pp will make good monk / bst armor for sale in bazaar and haze panther skins will sell for 1-3k each depending on your server. haze panther eyes go for about 1k for gnomish vanishing devices... good luck =) the panthers range from 34-38 and the haze panthers are like 44ish panthers are green-light blue at 57 and the haze are dark blue, both varieties hit hard as hell so watch yourself. also keep see invis up as the haze panthers are invis. also keep yourself sowed and keep gate memmed

edit.. this was meant to be a reply to the post by zedisdeadbaby about making pp

Not true. Once a combine is trivial you still succeed with a skill equal to the trivial level or 250+ (5% failures, 95% succeeds)... It says on several websites and there was even an official post about it somewhere on a EQ dev site thing..

Heh i found a way to afk macro about 600 plat (10 minute estimate) an hour not making cheese or arrows or bows or noobish banishing devices... You dont sell the products to a merchant or quest turnin them though so the profit dies with the economy. Oh and no im not discussing plat macroing cause its dumb and lame but just contributing to general conversation *nod....
