Banning

Post by Grakun » Fri Jun 28, 2002 1:43 pm

Didn't Verant say that they don't care if we macro, as long as we're at the computer? Why are we so afraid of getting banned, if we're not breaking any rules?

i don't think sleeping in the same room as the computer counts as monitoring the computer.

I don't think we're allowed to mess with the EQ client in any way either...

We are not allowed to use any 3rd party software with the game whatsoever.

Technically, this is hacking, not just macro-ing. MQ does invade the client's memory space. So it is a clear violation of EULA. So don't get caught.

Attended macroing (PURE macroing that is, ala xylobot) is legal. They had to make that concession during the last big macroing ban wave when people were complaining that some disabled people REQUIRE 3rd party apps to be able to use their PC. Unattended macroing is still illegal. And MQ is always illegal because it uses some serious memory hacking.

I think I have a loophole, at least for myself..

MQ isn't 3rd party for me ;)

He's referring to it not being a 3rd Party Program to him, because he is the creator of the program.

rofl, he already works for MicroSoft... you want him to work for Verant as well?

He's godlike enough that I'll somewhat forgive his lapse in judgement for working at MS, but do you really want to introduce him to Verant and corrupt him further?

Actually I think that's backwards, he was supposed to work at Verant THEN step up to MS... oh well, Verant probably wasn't around when he got drunk and signed up with MS.
