Careless AFK macroers to blame for the price increase.

This sounds insane, but it's very strange that the increased price happened right after the last patch. I know, because I was on at 3am when it happened and got updated and booted. When I got back in the prices were increased. Why would VI need to patch clients to change prices? Is there something in the client app that determines pricing? I can't imagine that being possible, because that would leave room for all kinds of cheating. I suppose it's possible they patch servers at the same time they patch clients, but that's silly, they should be able to modify merchant pricing and quests without patching the client. Anyway I'm just rambling and thinking about the impossible possibilities.

I'm sure the client patch had nothing to do with the price changes. It's called coordination. The dev who worked on the price changes on the server went to the dev coordinator and said "Hey, I've got some server data updates I need to make, when's the next scheduled patch".

I think it is mostly that they don't want to try and update the servers DB's while in use. Possibly more of a policy/control thing than anything else.
