Copied from my earlier post on the MQ2:Development forum:
Okay, so I've been there, done that, the whole "beat the game before you cheat" stuff just doesn't fly with me. I played EQ1 since the end of beta, and got into MacroQuest fairly early on, and have had my share of making macros, plugins, etc. Now I want to take my skills to the next level. I want to crack EQ2. I don't necessarily want to create a MQ program for EQ2, because frankly my programming skills are still amateur, however, beeing able to make a small program to run seperately and catch packets sent to EQ2 and use that information to help me out (kinda like ShowEQ or something), that'd be awesome.
I'm looking for someone who can give me the basics (what programs to use, and a brief overview of what the hell I'm looking at when I'm looking at it all, the rundown on offsets, etc) and I'll get cracking. When I have something that actually works, I'll post it for everyone to benefit from (open source of course).
