Lost donation??

Post by Rand Al'Thor » Sun Jun 26, 2005 3:10 pm

If this has been talked about in another post or if this is the wrong forum for this post then i am very sorry. i have been searching for something close to my issue but have so far not found it. i gave a donation about a week ago to MQ using the split even plan. i did receive a receipt from paypal but did not receive any kind of notification from MQ or Lavish saying that the Devs. got the money. i am less concerned with VIP access, though that would be nice, but rather just want to make sure the Devs. got my money. i have been using MQ for awhile now and have found it quite useful and have also found the Devs. to be good at giving help and aid when it is asked for, if someone asks nicely that is. So to sum things up: just wondering if there is any kind of verification from donations apart from the paypal receipt or if one is to just assume the money was sent. Thank you for your time and sorry for the overly long post.

Rand

Added what i thought should be the answer or at least what might be a good way of dealing with donations, as per instructions, not sure if my post is accurate at all though.

You dont get any notification, all you get is VIP access added to your account, assuming you met the minimum amount for automatic VIP access with your donation. If you didn't get VIP, email the person it went through, which in this case would be myself. And I see you did email me, except I never check my hotmail account and you should email lax@lavishsoft.com instead in the future ;)

The problem is most likely actually the ' in your username, there has been bugs in the automated system with that before. Checking the log, that's exactly what happened:
[06/21/2005 06:17pm] Amount: (amount) USD, user Rand Al\\\'Thor, item MQ2-SPLITEVEN (MacroQuest Split Donation - Evenly) receiver eqsynapse@hotmail.com, payer (email), txn_id (id number), payment status Completed, custom Rand Al\\\'Thor.
[06/21/2005 06:17pm] Processing donation
[06/21/2005 06:17pm] phpBB user not found for donation
Anyway, adding you to VIP and fixing the wiki edit.

Thank you very much Lax, and i hope i won't be finding too much of a need to email you more, think i've wasted enough of your time as is. Again thank you so much :)

Finally figured out how to compile it!

Post by guildleader » Fri Jul 08, 2005 2:54 pm

... Big thanks to Outlander (his hints in one post led me in the right direction)! and I sent in my donation split actively after getting it to compile. Hope $12 is enough for VIP status (didn't mention a minimum and thought this was an appropriate enough amount).

I only wish the compilation setup and use of the compiler was spelled out more clearly in the wiki (though I understand your reasons for making it vague). I went the free route, not because I'm cheap but I only wanted to set it all up once vs the $10 sixty day trial. Now that I know how to compile it (did it at work), maybe this weekend I can get it running at home.

Thanks again and hopefully it will improve my EQ experience.

If you read the first paragraph on the donate page, it explains the minimum amount for automatic VIP. We dont give the exact amount because then people would give 1 cent over that like queers. People still do that. I dunno, if they want to donate a small amount, thats cool, but they should remember what VIP stands for, and ask themselves if they were us, would they be VI for their donation?

Anyway, yes $12 is fine

Derail inc...

Lax, when one attempts to PM you they are given a message to send an email to eqsynapse@hotmail.com. Perhaps you should edit that email address so it's your lavishsoft one. I know I've sent you 2 emails so far to the hotmail one due to the fact that's the one I thought you used.
