Escaping Mobs better

ok everyone, I registered just so I could put this little tidbit of info out to you all.... for those that don't already know of course...

When running from a mob, I learned from another player that strafing to the left / right while running allows you to get away a little faster, since mobs cannot strafe, they will always run in one of 4 directions, and in the slight lead that you make by going diagonally, you can actually give yourself enough lead to escape without getting hit.

I am assuming that this isn't known by everyone, and whether or not this is easily added to a "run or die" macro, I'd just like people to know that it is an effective way to save yer ass ( unless its ALOT faster than you, then your screwed )

Btw, I can't find / write a macro that will have me run around the bottom of HHK KSing from the lower levels, and looting everything in site... please write one for me j/k

I Play on Saryrn Server too!! I play a 51 Dark Elf Cleric named Healsalot! maybe we could Partner sometime.. Please though, dont tell the GMs that I play a 51 Dark Elf Cleric on Saryrn Server and that I Use MQ.. Not to mention that I exploit Cheese.. OH, and never let them know that I MQ unattended.. HEH, what do you think the chances are of them finding out? I think slim to none.. Its not like GMs read this Messege Board or anything.. Right?

Hum.... this may be my spider sense tingling... but are you all being sarcastic ? As in that I am a retard for saying my char name, server, etc. publicly on these boards, like I'm not afraid of the GM's or something ? Well, anyways.... If you are... I don't give a fuk. If you aren't... then I'd like some response on my actual topic... for all I know I could be completely wrong and that whole strafing thing is just a thing I made up in my mind...( btw paragraphs are not my friend )

I think maybe there was a hint of sarcasm there.

To answer your question. In theory yes. I have used it sometimes and it does work, depends on the zone and the speed of the mob. If your running for your life then anything that might help is worth it. Personally I dont run for my life. I just run to pick a good spot to die in, after everyone else has zoned or gated of course.

ya know, every time i play my doggone twink in west commons i remember hearing over and over about 'strafe' helping, but i swear, i have NEVER been able to outrun kizdean gix. i spit <PATOOEE!> on that strafe tidbit. never worked for me in dreadlands running from spiders, never worked in maidenseye running from 4armed freaks.
