Servers up April 20th

Post by MareDK » Wed Apr 20, 2005 11:18 am

and well MQ2 works, didn't unload it before servers went down, running fine here so far, so I guess SOE doesn't hate us too much or my macros doesn't use whatever they changed if they changed something.

Usually SOE don't care at all about "us", they just do their work, which happends to include structure changes etc at times. When they do care about stuff, its when it takes a longer time for a new MQ to come out due to them changing memchecks or simillar, but normally, they dont care, MQ just stops working as soon as they recompile eqgame.exe, no matter if they want it or not.

On a side note, check what is patched, if eqgame.exe aint patched, MQ will continue to work without needing any change. (unless its broken ofcourse)

A very good friend of mine for years works at SOE pretty high up the food chain...

I've got news for you: They don't care. They don't care about ShowEQ or Macroquest or any of the other automation utilities around a few years back.

They do care about active cheating that can have a major impact on the game, duping, plat cheats and the like.

I do know the coders will change things from time to time just to tweak the noses of the ShowEQ crowd, but nothing active.

If you don't bother them, they won't bother us.

It's true, SOE only cares about making money. If you're ruining the game for others, they may quit ..and thereby SOE will lose money. If you keep to yourself and don't bother others, chances are they don't care.

It's basically the difference between driving 60 in a 55 mph zone vs. driving 85 in a 55 mph zone ....both are breaking the law, but there certainly is a difference.

yeah I agree Amadeus, MQ2 doesn't ruin the game as long as you don't step over certain borders (warp comes to mind) I use it for tradeskills, found a nice macro that uses the actual tradeskill window and use the speed other people can use, so no cheating on mega fast combines and skillups and so on, it is all in realistic speed.

also use it to run my bot, so I can group with myself since I am tired of looking for group, and/or grouping with Ebay players. So now I have a nice but that make it easy for me to duo with myself, but again there isn't any super powers in it, it just works like another player playing the char, and yeah I still die if I do stupid things or get unlucky.

there was a post about ppl using MQ2 for UI and so on that SOE accepted which is a big improvement from their side but it doesn't ruin the game for anyone like warp would do and you don't really get super powers either.

Naah I love MQ2 and I know what (which isn't much) SOE do about ppl that use MQ2, used to be a guide on one of the servers which was fun before they changed them into the milk and cookie team (yuk) was fun back in the days when you actually helped ppl.

Last time i saw evidence that they cared was when PoP was released and they upped the encrption on spawn/profile packets from 32 to 64bit. Only slowed ShowEQ down a few days but still, was the last evidence that they cared.
