Yesterday i was really glad I got MQ working without help from this site (I did post, but figured out how to fix it before people could help) (see the thread from yesterday for a walkthrough to get MQ working on your computer).
I also asked how to get the console mod working,.. I now understand that this was not implemented, but instead the Telnet mod was put in place. So I preceded with trying to get that working.
Changed the Macroquest.ini file with a port, welcome and password. Runned MQ and EQ (my firewall asked if i wanted to let EQ broadcast on the port, so that was working). Verified if telnet was activated with the /telnet command in EQ,.. it echo'd with the port number, so that was working.
Downloaded PuTTY as was recommended,.. activated PuTTY and I let it connect to the port using my IP number I found by running winipcfg. This also worked; It connected. (before that I tried to connect to anoteher port and putty said connection failed, so I knew that I really connected to the MQ port becouse that error was not generated.)
Unfortunately,.. no welcome message and no prompt for a password.
I also tried two other telnet proggies; the one built in in windows and another obscure free one I got from the internet. Both had the same problem,.. I could seemingly connect, but no welcome and password (obviously MQ didn't react to any commands I typed in the terminal window either).
I'm running windows ME, I understand that another user had exactly the same problems.
If anybody can help me out in fixing this telnet problem I would be really glad. I would also be glad if it is possible to put the old console mod back in place.
Marco
