I have read through the new site add on ( think it's new ) BEFORE my first post.I have read the manual BEFORE the post , however mq2 chat box is not up nothing is up however mq2 is running.I understand how to compile Mq2 so i dont think thats it i have never came across this type of problem with mq before.

I will list were i have looked alrdy to help narrow things down ( today ).
1.http://www.macroquest2.com/wiki/index.p ... leshooting Now i assumed mayeb the TS guide would help , however i am not crashing or getting any errors it just isnt working.
2.http://www.macroquest2.com/wiki/index.p ... g#See_Also more on the same page i figured maybe something with maunching Mq2 has changed , but all this was stuff i alrdy understood.
3.http://www.macroquest2.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8877,
Once again alot of this seems to be about compiling errors i am not having this problem.
4.http://macroquest2.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6326 i hinted around to looking at this earlier alrdy done.
5.http://macroquest2.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10743 I thought this guy had the same problem as me but i was wrong.

I am Realy out of idea's i don't like to ask for help intill i have tried to fix a problem(s) myself.I relise my grammer and spelling might not be the best but i think it can be read and understood. So please no flames or tips on that mater i think i will be ok with out them.

**EDIT** by not working i mean no mqchat window and no MQ commands work.It is running in my toolbar but is not responding in EQ it was working just fine 2 days ago.The only thing i can even think of is something messed up when i had to kill comp ( just pushed restart button while mq and EQ were running) after that it hasnt worked.

Thats fine and dandy, but the steps are as follows...

Code: Select all

Finally, if you cannot find the information you are looking for, and your question is a general MacroQuest question, here are the steps you must take.
1. Sign up on the Wiki and log into it
2. Navigate in the wiki to where you think the information should be found
3. Hit an "edit" button on the page, and TYPE WHAT YOU THINK THE INFORMATION SHOULD BE, EVEN IF YOU DONT KNOW, where you think it should be. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO DO ANYTHING SPECIAL IN THE WIKI, JUST TYPE THE INFORMATION AS IF IT WAS A MESSAGE BOARD POST. If the page does not exist, either create it or put whatever you're doing in the closest place you can figure out. Do not come asking how to make a wiki entry -- again, just sign up and hit the edit button, type it in, and hit save. Someone that knows what theyre doing can change it later!
4. Hit Save Page.
5. Come back to this forum, and create a NEW THREAD with a subject that does not say "help please" but describes your situation as best you can. In the message, post a link to the page you edited, and describe what you changed/added to the page. Then ask if it is correct or if it needs modification.
6. Wait for someone to check it out.
You have explained your issue, done your reading, but that's not the problem here.. The problem is the next person to come along and have this problem will do the same thing, and still not find their answer. If you prevent that from happening, you will have your answer either by finding it yourself and explaining it on the wiki, or by explaining what you think the answer should be on the wiki and having someone correct it for you.

In all likelihood it's something boneheaded like mq2main.dll not existing. Now please follow the steps. ;)

Just curious, by chance you execute your MacroQuest2.exe from a copy/pasted location? Tis how MQ2 appeared to be running for me but wasn't working at all and to copy/paste the exe to desktop made 5 copies of MQ2Main.dll to be nested in my OS files.

Shortcuts or 'pinning' it to start menu seem to operate MQ2 just fine. Figured I just throw that out there cause I didn't post my error/fix on thread ya linked above.

Thank you for your concern , reply. That did not fix my problem ( i did pin it to start menu did a file search with only 1.mq2main.dll ) at the least you may have helped someone else with there problem.Again i find it odd this is happening i have been using mq for about a year with 0 problems of any kind , great prog.

the problem is this is rather vague:

Code: Select all

Mq2 is running eq is running but mq is not working
not working could mean a varity of things:

by not working do you mean, you dont get your mq2 chat window
by not working do you mean, your mapfilters arnt working anymore.
by not working do you mean, macro XXXXXX.mac doesnt work anymore.
by not working do you mean, you get NO functionality (try innate functionality /face for example)

the best way to get a result is as lax discribed, also the key is to be as specific as possible, my general irc comment might start with "OMG LAX MY C++ COMPILER IS BEING WIERD!" but there is generally a detailed responce to follow.
ACK! I think I blew it up....

I dont think your allowed to talk about this outside of a "free speech zone" anymore.

I have to tell you, although you did follow half of the instructions, your wiki edit was in the form of a question, when it should have been in the form of an answer.
"Hit an "edit" button on the page, and TYPE WHAT YOU THINK THE INFORMATION SHOULD BE, EVEN IF YOU DONT KNOW, where you think it should be."

Further, you didnt post a link to your edit.
"In the message, post a link to the page you edited, and describe what you changed/added to the page. Then ask if it is correct or if it needs modification. "

Oh well, I tried :( Losing faith in humanity

your mq2 chatbox isnt running ive had that problem before.there is a thread on the boards somewhere about what to do to fix it. i think i just unload all the chatwindow plugins and reload mq2chatwnd.

hope that helps

Dude.... did the project build with no errors? In the release directory, is MQmain.dll there? What size is that file? You expect it to be over 500k in size. Did you double check to be sure that the DLL injects with no errors? Do you get the MQ2 window at character select?

Your post goes on and on about how you looked and looked. But you totally don’t give us any information at all that would lead us to believe that you have a clue.

“It’s broke and I tried to figure it out” is not much information. Help us out here please.

 Ok thanks to the couple of those who pm'd trying to help.I figured out that my problem was my computer was infected with a few virus.I just reformated my computer and MQ worked just fine like normal. The reason it was hard for me to ask for help was becuase i was not getting any errors nothing was crashing it just simply stoped responding while it was running ( i think ).Any way thanks for the help.
