I don't know about anyone else, but I have around 9 different incoming messages and all of them funny. I like to keep my group entertained when I'm pulling, but having so many hotbuttons for different messages started to become a pain so I wrote this.
It's a simple incoming message macro that randomly picks phrases. I left out my personal messages as they would stand out and put in default boring ones.
Code: Select all
|Incoming.mac
|June 28, 2004
|
Sub Main
/declare RND int
/declare INC[3] string
/varset INC[1] "Incoming %t Message 1"
/varset INC[2] "Incoming %t Message 2"
/varset INC[3] "Incoming %t Message 3"
/varcalc RND ${Math.Rand[3]} + 1
/gsay ${INC[${RND}]}
/return

I just wanted to say one thing:

May the eclipse of your soul never fade to light!

I like this macro... just for the siliness that can occur when it is used properly. Please make an .inc file to go along with this with a bunch of random funny phrases. It will then be included in the OOW release of MQ2.

So people know 100% for certain that you're running an unmodified MQ2 macro? I can see asking for INI support, but spare the "funny phrases" please.

I didn't mean to include a list of 40 funny phrases... just a few favorites... or even common phrases that everyone seems to be using these days, like Inc %t, Barsh his Arse...

I'd make it 3 to 5 max. Too many and people will start wondering where he's storing so many keys.

You give people far too much credit, sir.

healing me! lol!"

Better to error on the side of caution. The people I play with are attentive and intelligent. They notice things.

Universally applied to all types of hotkeys.. it's nice to mix it up. I'm not too worried about having a few funny messages for Call of the Hero or Malosi. People could do it using their 9 pages of hotkeys anyway. :)

Well, a post with an example of 3 to 5 will allow anyone to go from there and create their own.

I was grouped the other day with someone pulling who had I would guess about 30+ different incoming messages. Well it was a Vxed trial and I don't think I seen 1 repeat message. My only thought coud be that he was using MQ2 or something else I don't know out there with similar capabilities.

Could be, unless they were over-the-top messages like I auto-generate. I toss out stuff like "Some-group-member makes a better speedbump than he does a ranger. Oh, by the way a Mangled Fiend is a badass level 68 Necromancer, and my disciplines won't refresh for another 2 minutes and 38 seconds!!!" (not really, but...well, close to that)
