No.
Won't cater to beggers.
Show that your trying to help yourself, then if you fall down, others will help you.. guide you. But will not give away the entire answer.
Especially won't post such a simple macro simply because you'll be running it while afk.

Get a grip. This forum for Macro Requests, means that the person is already trying on their own.
If you don't share my perception. Then keep your view to your self, and post the answer for this person.

Actually this forum is for request, if you read the sticky post, it says THIS FORUM IS FOR REQUEST. You do not need to make prior attempts before asking for a macro. Read the sticky, the mod of the forum states it very clearly.

beg.mec

Post by Nerfy » Mon Oct 21, 2002 10:50 pm

I think that the point of the 'do it yourself' posts is that this is simple. Since the next post after mine stating how easy this is will be something along the lines of "Then post it you n00bie." , and since I'm in a good mood tonight here's your code:

Code: Select all

| beg.mac
|
| Usage:
| Target the thing you want to beg
| Type: /macro beg
|
| By Nerfy
|

Sub Main

   :Beg

      /if n $char(ability,"Beg")>0 /doability Beg

   /goto :Beg

/return

A few conditions:
- This is as is, if you want GM checks, or checks to see if your mark has gotten pissy at you then do it yourself. This is a start.
- Beg your pet if you can. NPC's will attack sooner or later. You will get no cash from the pet, you will get skill gains.
- Begging isn't profitable. You may start getting coppers at 100+ skill.
- Begging (like fishing) is level based. (Level*5)+5 is your max.
- Begging doesn't lower your faction
- Begging will cause any NPC - regardless of level (even lvl 1 greenies), or feelings towards you - to aggro on you eventually. It may take minutes, it may take hours but they'll get sick of you sooner or later. A year or so ago I left a beg macro running on a begger in FP overnight. I was dead in the morning. I was lvl 39 - he was about a 3. My log showed:

"Lucky hits you for 1 HP"
"Lucky misses you" * 20
Repeat

Probably took him hours to kill me. I was still dead.

/press = bad. I learned that when I was trying to make my forage macro hehe...

Code: Select all

sub main
:loop
/if n $char(ability,"Beg")>0 /doability Beg
/goto :loop
/return

One question about that check, does it:

- See if this character has that ability? As in with MEND it would return true on a monk and false on a Cleric
- See if the ability has cycled? As in won't keep trying to fish while the line is sitting in the water
- All of the above

Thanks for the advice - it's updated.

there is a way to beg safely but there are other places u can find out that information and its not hard to find...

But...even with a skill of 200, i can tell u you will not get more than a few silver ever - it really isnt even worth posting a macro request for it.

$char(ability, xxx) returns what /doability you have a skill set to (see Appendix C) Also can return:
0: Skill not on an ability button
-1: You do not have that skill
-2: The ability is on a button but unusable right now

so if > 0 it is usable. -1 ya don't have it, -2 it hasn't recycled, and 0 itself, hotkey it =p

Ok, ok - RTFM I hear ya. I was just being lazy. Thanks for the answer though. I found out last night that the transport NPC's and the binders won't aggro on you - so they're a safe bet to up the skill.

One thing I've hear before, and am not sure whether or not to believe. If a group is fighting some baddie and while fighting the people use Beg and Pick Pocket on it - does that reduce the cash that the NPC would have once dead?

Which leads to another question... is loot assigned on death or on spawn? Hrm. If it's on spawn I can believe that those two skills would reduce the chars cash on hand. On death, not so much.

Pick pocket will reduce the loot on the mob (ever had a rogue in seb? can usually tell)....

Loot is spawned when the mob spawns.

As to beg... dunno... The single most useless skill in all of EQ. If I wanted agro I'd just hit taunt.

I disagree on loot changing due to rogues picking pockets during battle. I play a lvl 17 rogue and was PP during a battle with a CB Centurian. On the PP I received a CB belt, and after the orc died there was another CB belt to loot. I"m not really sure but I have never seen 2 belts on any orc after death...

EDIT: Char and server edited out.

FYI, might want to kill the sig. Verant watches these boards and (I can only assume that posting here you will use or have used MQ) they will take note of that. Unless of course that's the name and server of some enemy of yours =). I've been called paranoid, but I have been through the experience of haveing my main banned once. It's not fun. Edit that post of yours.
