Greetings

Im new to these boards, but am an IT/Software guy by trade. I cant wait to really learn this prog and Xylobot...so that I can contribute to making EverQuest FUN again.

As you'll read in my sig below, I for one, think that if leveling were FUN and the joy of the game didnt dissipate towards the end game...there WOULDNT be a need for these macros.

I have a background in VBS, SQL and various other programs that help me help CLEC phone companies track your billing, change your features, and cut you off. LOL.

Im intrigued by the automation of tradeskills for pp profit, a non-manned wizard taxi service, and getting AA xp without the grind. (i like to shoot small

Im totally clueless about this so far...but with y'all's help this should change.

I have to agree that the fun has diminished with the shift to the end game strategy (at least for me). The fun now is making little macros to make my life easier.

The taxi-bot and skill-bots tend to be less shared as they are either blatantly obvious or nerfed once well known.

You may wish to look at the embedded Perl thread
(not yet released I believe ) as it will allow you to utilize more of your skills and potentially overcome the before mentioned hurdle. Also the generic tradeskill will overivew the tradestuff nicely.

Furthermore, with the MQ commands it does not seem necessary to use Xylobot, for me, anymore. The exception being the downtime after a major patch while waiting for MQ offsets.

Thanks for the greeting. Good to know the lay of the land. I do plan on using some of the more "plat-related" macros, however I agree that the automation of the day-to-day droll functions wont continue to zap fun out of the game.

As soon as I get up to date on how to use all this Ill be contributing by asking for the most outlandish, hard to script macros that people want...since im like you..writing these things and seeing them work will ROCK. But first things first..baby steps.

you are gonna get flamed on here too... dont talk about pp macros, dont ask about pp macros. its taboo and leads to bad things.

as for the rest... wiz bots will get banned at some point. GMs notice canned responses... someone who was in trader mode and selling c3 to people that bought an item off of them got their chanter banned.

xp macros are hard to write, hard to debug, and rare (past level 15) ... if you arent prepare to write it yourself, dont expect to have one any time soon.

I do plan to write my own. I use Perl and SQL among others on a daily basis so for me writing something like this would be fun. The harder the better.

For example a 4000 line block that would answer any question to the lvl to which it would respond to any tells without the other person knowing there was no one attending the keyboard.

Actually for a bit of programming history, just such a blind dialog of person to computer - and the attempt to fool the human chatter has been a famous point of contention. Not saying I will be successful but id sure like to try. I mean there has to be limited (it might be 1000 but its still not infinite) set of categories that all speech comes under. And each of these has to have key words that define each category. Therefore canned responses on any subject based on keywords should be doable. Hell Yahoo chat bots are proof that you can fool someone of the people some of the time with chat bots.

This is merely one of the things I want to tackle myself. Until I do, Ill just keep lurking....and asking people that are hospitable the questions I need thorugh personal messages...so as not to leave myself open for attack.

Its just a shame that some people find themselves superior just because they have been using this program first. Technically since Im new...and havent caused all the GM problems it has to be one of the more established members who caused all the trouble. Oh well...consider this dead horse beaten.

your using MQ for the exact reasons VI doesnt want it around. PP and AUTO XPing.

do you have ANY common sense?

you dont go talking about drug deals infront of cops.

you dont go talking about smugling mexicans over the border where a border guard could see you.

just the same, you dont go asking or talking about "how to make PP, where to find the best prices to make PP, im going to get free AAs, etc" on a board that VI and others im sure do know about.

all your gonna do is get MQ put as a higher priority in VIs list of things to nerf/get rid of.. because theyll start to think that every damn person registered to this board or posting on these boards is using it to make free PP and XP. which isnt true.

A bit hypocritical, don't you think?

You want plat macros, xp bots, etc... Yet, you blame others who used these things, and call them bad apples, because they won't give you their stuff for free...

He said he was going to write programs to come up with responses and such to various questions, triggered like keywords. He wasn't asking for PP macros / Exp bots... he merely mentioned them as a reference point. He wasnt saying he was going to make them and / or share them here. We all know not to use that crap.. if you want an example look how many people got banned from cheese.mac and all that crap....

Stick with the built-in Macros Verant put in the game.
Learn yo make the available command do something useful.

There is more then 1 way to do most things with the available Macros.

When you have that mastered, then use the enhanced commands that MQ offers.. they are an extension to EQ macro commands.

When you get those mastered too.. using the 5 line *hotkey* ,... then you can move on to reading the posts here.

Take a small post, a simple mac and try to figure out the sequence it will do each thing.

When you feel you have that understood. Then try making your own Mac.

It's easy. write a basic mac like

/return

then fill the middle with commands.

Easily learned when you don't look at the Horizon, but instead pay attention to your place that you stand at first.

In other words.. your looking the whole picture of possibilities, it's easier when you look at the smaller parts first.
Understand each command then the whole picture will draw itself for you.

it aint a link to these boards but the guy starts off by saying "Welcome to the Wonderful world of MacroQuest." and the post on hackersquest goes off saying "MacroQuest is back up and so are some pretty sweet macro's.".. im pretty sure theyre talking about the MQ we all use.

Know this. I learn EQ over a 3 year period.. atleast the parts i want to know about. Yes i do trade skills. I like trade skills. I'm not using MQ for trade skills though.
I for one won't post my private Macros. I may toss in a small line or 2 here or there though.
This way what i do with MQ is secret. VI knows nothing... Leeches know nothing .. And so those that seek to destroy their accounts, well thats up to them.
If MQ is no longer available, there will always be another to replace it.

Hey. it's your money to the online game. I know you didn't wake up one morning and say.." I'm going to play EQ, then im going to destroy my account just to see how long i can get away with macros ".
But if your not there while running any macro at all, then you might as well have said those very words.
Sooner, or later, you will be seen doing something that just isn't right.
The red flag will go up.. and in your own arrogance you will destroy yourself. Good Riddance.

My opinion is that if a Guide or GM is sending you a tell if you didn't petition, then they already scanned your processes.. though they won't admit to it if asked. They know your already shook up just cause they said hello without petition, so they try to get you to show evidence that your macro is running. And some people, will even get stripped of everything that character has, while your afk.. and the GM will let you go on your merry little macro afk .. way. LOL. Great. i luv that.
Cause maybe next time, you will consider to stay at the keyboard and never run a bot, or a mass money maker.

Tired of reading PP macros, AFK macros, Tradeskill Macros, or any macro thats designed to make EQ automatic. Why even bother playing the game?

Yes i know i could just stop reading them. But so far, thats all i see here.
Thats all people want help with. Stirred up enough comotion about MQ that if MQ died today.. people would STILL be talking about it as long as EQ lives online. And thats because of you PP hungry, AFK, Tradeskillers, looking to make the easy plats.
It's a vicious circle.. the easier to make plats, the higher the auction prices will go.. People know that somewhere out there, somebody is going to pay 130,000 Plats for a really lame item becuase they know you have it like that.

Ahh well. Thanks for reading my 2 copper on it. Back to the other posts.

well i gave up on trying PP or afk macros... but still want tradeskill macros due to being unable to physically perform the mass quantities of clicks required to build skills... i agree that VI has right to ban people who are doing things far faster than is humanly possible, but if the macro's speed is set to a reasonable level, it leaves the realm of expliot and moves into facilitation for those with physical limitations.
