How to show map in zone where SoE has Disabled the Map?

Post by Madhatter » Sun Jul 25, 2004 12:47 pm

I once saw a post on how to enable maps in zones that dont have map support. How is this done? I would appreciate any help.

I believe that the correct phrase would be something along the lines of "This is not a supported MQ2 function, and as such you will need to do your research elsewhere".

If you cant figure it out your self then this is something you should probably not do. Try a program that offers somthing to the effect on its own like SEQ or MySEQ.

perhaps the correct statement is "that topic is not appropriate for this web site". This way they don't just go posting in another category. The scope of "forum" is less clear to some than to others.

perhaps the correct statement is
perhaps it's "we don't give a fuck if you can't comprehend". This forum is not meant for people with no clue to come here and post retarded shit that's been post literally 1,000 times before. Use search ALWAYS. You would have found your answer.

By not using search and posting this question we reserve the right to flame you, beat you, ban you, pour hot oil on you and string you up in the middle of the road in an angel outfit wearing a "hi i'm lame" sign.

(edit: just to be clear, this wasn't directed at mimatas)

Damn noobs!!

Someone needs to sticky a message that plainly states : THIS IS NOT A HACKORS FORUM!!

But morons with stupid questions about map and /random will come out of the woodwork and ask stupid fucking quesitons anyway because they dont search or read or do anything except expect instant answers.

Obviously the map issue comes up a lot. Obviously MQ2 doesn't do what the posters want to do. Obviously there are tools out there which do what the posters want to do.

I myself had asked the map questions in my early days, and while many made perfect asses out of themselves being rude for no reason, one answered the question by saying that MQ2 is not an offset hack.

A perfectly reasonable explanation.

I would suggest to add the map issue to the FAQ or make a sticky that reads "MQ2 will never show restricted maps" or whatnot. Sure, some will not read it and still post, but (and call me naive) I believe that the majority will read it, and understand why it is not part of MQ.

To those who say alt-tab out and look at a browser, or SEQ/mySEQ; that is not what it is about, anyone who is reasonably familiar with EQ knows those options already. People who are asking about restricted maps are looking for a way to display those maps in the default cartography window of EQ.

Personally I don't understand SOEs decision to not make those maps available in-game. It's like some developer in a windowless cubicle is bitter about the missed opportunities in his live and is determined to make the gamers live miserable as well. Since the maps are obviously freely available outside of EQ, there is no logical reason for not having them available within EQ as well. But that doesn't have anything to do with MQ2 in either case.

Anyway, while it is surely frustration to deal with the same old question over and over, and with people who are simply too ignorant to use SEARCH, there is also absolutely no reason to add a reply just to diss the poster. Have nothing useful to add to the thread, then don't say anything, because chances are that whatever you choose to reply with make you look much more like an ass than the original poster could ever accomplish for himself by being ignorant.
