Couple of questions regarding MQ2:

Post by Kore » Fri Jun 04, 2004 4:46 am

I've recently learned that MQ actually exists - although I never really seeked a macro programming program for EQ until today. I've been botting a cleric/warrior combo using EQW and i want to add a chanter bot, but since i'm using EQW, i dont want to have to constantly cycle between the 3 characters just to cast/do the simplest spells/action - lives are at stake and time is of the essence.

My question is this: How could macros from MQ2 help me with this particular problem?

If it cant help solve this particular problem, i won't bother learning MQ2, but if it can, then i'm more than willing to become a most rabid fan and hardcore MQ2 programmer - i just need to know before i dive in and spend a crazy amount of time learning MQ2.

Thank you so very much! = )

Do some searching in the macro depot. Uhm, I think genbot or advbot or something does what your loking for. Basically you issue commands to your bot via group or tells or whatever and then the bot responds. Might have to alter code and learn to write macros, but you can do what you wants fairly easily if you take the time to learn it.

take a look in the Macro Depot HERE
you will find at least 3 that will autobot multi characters and lots more for specific clases, use the SEARCH feature first before posting, it will save alot of flaming and abusive replies.

I understood i would be flamed - it was a risk i had to take - usually noobies to such things dont know the proper keywords to search with so they end up wasting a ton of time and not get anything useful. Nevertheless, you two have answered my question perfectly and i'm now willing to spend many hours searching this board and learning to do what i wanted - thanks again! =)

With a sophisticated enough macro, you can make it so that you won't need to switch to your other EQ windows to control what your bots do whatsoever. MacroQuest is, by far, a multi-boxer's best friend.

Actually, while you guys are replying: I've come across a rather disturbing message in one of the Macro Depot threads stating that you can run only 1 macro at a time - i have yet to find a post stating otherwise nor backing that claim up. Is it true?

Thanks again guys! = )

it's true. I think what someone was hinting at before was controlling another toon thru tells from a "master" you designate. Example. you send a tell to your cleric "CH" cleric recieves the tell, your macro recognizes it to mean Complete Heal, and casts that spell. Check out gen bot. also run thru the plugins. Many plugins do the same as macros except you can run many plugins constantly, while running 1 macro without problems. hope that helped you out some

you can run 1 macro per instance of eq..
so each character can run its own macro, not one per computer.

Yes, you can only one run macro at a time per character. Has was stated earlier, if your running 3 characters on the same computer, you can run one macro per character.

While it would be nice to be able to run more than one macro per character, it's not really necassary. With a bit of forethought, and creative macro'ing, you can automate your chanter to do anything you want in any given circumstance.

Example, i have a shaman that i bot for my cleric. with one macro and hotkeys, i can start and stop 3 different macro's without ever having to switch to my shaman.

MQ2 is your best friend, once you start using it, you'll never want to be without it ever again :)
