Read my latest announcement at
http://macroquest2.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... 2243#52243
If you have questions, post them here. However, realize that we are incredibly steamed about people doing this recently, so now would not be the time to push the envelope. Also, don't ask stupid questions like "what was posted" or "where is it" ...and don't answer those questions either.
If you don't have legit questions on what is allowed or not allowed then it's best not to say anything at all right now. At this point I simply want to impress upon everyone how important it is to keep shit 'in the family'. All the greedy bastards can go away.

Does this include F-H? I know we1 wanna remain separate, but we're not.
footnote: 1: we - the conglomerate of people frequenting both forums.
Feh... that's not a monkey.... THIS is a monkey!

Before the chicken little squad starts, I want to make sure that people know they hinted at a Wednesday update before the thing was posted in the place. There's at least going to be an update message according to eqlive, but there's still no mention of it in scheduled downtime.
I've got some commentary, but it's probably best I keep it to myself. Probably a good idea for the rest of the peanut gallery to do the same :)

What about a plugin that is to large to simply post the code in [code] blocks? Currently, I have the MQ2Perl plugin zipped up and hosted via my own webspace. However, there is no webpage associated with this, and I have only posted a link to this zip file here, in the Plugin forum. Is this acceptable, or do I need to remove the zip from my site and somehow get it hosted here?

I have no problems with the source being in an archived file (.zip or .rar) as long as it is linked to ONLY from this messageboard or approved forums. In other words, it would only be a zip file hosted on another site..and no way for someone to know it's there unless they read about it here or on an approved forum.
However, if the URL to said archive was leaked or distributed on a public forum, I would ask that it be changed, moved, or modified. I would also suggest keeping tabs on how many times it is accessed as that would be a good indication of how popular it might be outside of the family.
Also, I would state that anything that we allow to be published on the website is under less restrictions than plugins that are banned from being posted on the MQ boards in the first place (you know the type). I still do not want them to be publically posted for all to see what is possible (just because there really are people that don't know what MQ is and that is a good thing.)
Finally, I want you all to know that in this latest development I am assuming that my opinion is the same as the other devs (since we have discussed this amongst ourselves). However, they have the right to make their own preferences known as well ...especially Lax since most of MQ2 is his work.

Definitely time to stop updating the publicly available MQ2 source after the next patch.

Ok hold on- what? Some shit went down, someone made a plugin/macro that was bad (steal pw's/40kpp an hour! macro etc.), blah blah blah, whatever. I have no interest in it, it doesn't affect me, I don't care.
OTOH, this does. What the hell happened?
Is MQ "less safe" to use than it was a week ago? (ie: is there any reason to suspect SoE will begin a witchhunt for MQ users) Should I change my pw because it may have gotten stolen?

Don't derail the thread. There is no reason to freak out, and there is no more information that anyone needs other than what I have posted.

"Is MQ any less safe"
As it has been said, everytime you log in using MQ, no matter what the use.... your still breaking the agreement that is spat out in front of you each time you log on.

Thanks. No really, you're helpful.
Take a perfectly legitimate question, take out the part that makes it legitimate, leaving only a sentence fragment that isn't even grammatically correct, then call them out for asking a stupid question, by pointing out a blitheringly obvious fact. If there were more people like you in the world, we would have no need for school.

My question, again: Is whatever big bad wolf that was unleashed Big and Bad enough that Sony will unleash a Bigger and Badder wolf of their own?

Raise your hand if you work for Sony and can answer this idiot's question.
