MQ2 doesn't work with the latest Login changes?

Post by Drunkdwarf » Thu May 20, 2004 12:30 pm

Since no one has mentioned anything I'll ask, since if I have the latest (May 17) MQ2 running EQ just bails out right after the patcher goes into the new login screens.

Just making sure it's not just MY system.

TIA

DD

Funny, it ran fine for me. EQW, on the other hand...

yes.. I have had the problem too. EQ crashes in various stages during the login process. no error message, just that eqgame.exe has encountered a problem and must close, save your work, yadda yadda..

I turn off MQ2 and eq loads fine, then I turn on MQ2.. and everything works.

I've had a few crash problems so far too. Only logged in once or twice last night, briefly, and didn't bother with trying to get MQ2 to load much. If it keeps up, maybe I'll try to attach a debugger.

Thanks for posting this by the way...

I've had issues too, and I could not get into EverQuest for the life of my when running MQ2 from the patcher to the login screen. The way I got around it is to run EverQuest regularly and just window out and run MQ2 at the character select screen, that's how I did it. But from what I see from an above poster, they have had no problem, so I am stumped as to what it is exactly that is making it crash since it has nothing to do with coding, merely graphics have changed..../shrug.

::sigh:: reason I didn't get any debugging information is 'cause I was FIRST asking if it was my own problem "pebkac" or I just needed to wait for the latest (one day after patch, etc.) source. That way I wouldn't get someone to post "rtfm" instead.

But I guess ya can't win...

::sigh::

Well, get the debug info anyway. If you post what they want, even if they already see it and fixed it, they're not going to flame you for it because you followed instructions and did the right thing.
:)

Debug info on crash problems, whether they're your own or caused by something else, helps those that know identify where the problem is. If it's something non-MQ2, they'll let you know, and since you posted the debug info, probably won't flame you unless it's obviously not MQ or EQ :)

And it might not be an MQ problem at all. Friend of mine who wouldn't know a macro from a toaster is currently having problems with the new login. Gets the "eqgame.exe has encountered an error" problem. Sorry, no debug info, but I think its more of a general eq problem.

Not at my EQ machine atm, but a quick FYI.

Launching MQ after the login screens as some others suggested works just fine. I'll run it again tonight and post debug info.

The next day after the original crash problems I had, I went ahead and attached a debugger and ran EQ for hours with no crashes. Go figure  and I've continued usage with 0 problems. No idea what happened that first night.

Since everquest itself has not changed, just the login to it, running it once you get in game should work perfectally 8)
