Rumour

Post by Flea » Sat May 01, 2004 11:35 pm

So, last rumour I heard was that if you target something over 500 units away, it sends a message to server.

Any comments?

cant happen. If a player was to target something, then run 500 units away, it would send the message. How many people target PCs, or NPCs, then run around? Healers for heals, tanks for gated mobs, pullers for casting mobs, etc.

There would be a lot of messages sent, so i dont think this is true.

Thats my opinion.

Nod, I have my own opinions on this also, as in, /assisting someone that had something on target previously, targeting someone from group window, or simply targeting something that is straight ahead of you that is 500 units away, I am just seeing what other people think.

A habit?
Spelling correctly is like eating or breathing, not a habit!

I consider breathing eating and waking up a habit that I will one day break.

English Lesson?

Post by ImaNoob » Sun May 02, 2004 4:18 am

Words ending with or/our both tend to be proper spelling, depending upon which side of the pond you are on.

English is a language in a state of constant flux, and the usage of (or) over (our) for words ending in that sound, tend to come and go.

So....

Ok... rouge with SoS runs to Traks lair and targets him. He runs back to zone in and you assist the rouge. You have now targeted something more than 500 units away.

Sounds like a bogus rumor to me.......

Without MQ /assist has a very short range. I've had times were a group member had a target and I tried to /assist and couldn't. Basically without MQ I don't think you can Aquire a target more then 500 away. You might be able to have a target that far away if you ran frm something or it ran from you, but I don't think yu can aquire one.

well i'm in time, targetting a suspended mammoth. I'm 510ft away.

So obviously you don't need MQ to do this, and probably happens 100,000 times a day ;)

Well, after thought, this is my conclusion:

All times a moveable object (MOB) is targeted from over 500 units away, it is logged and flagged to server.

Now, there are exceptions as there are in many things, but, some MQ users may have the habit of targetting things over 500 units away and multiple flags may cause suspicion.

They cannot prove anything, but at the same time, they dont have to be able to prove it to ban you.

Please enlighten us as to how you've proven this. Are you analyzing the packets? What's the packet structure? I'll be waiting patiently for your detailed response.

Vzmule, I think this is your answer:

It sounds like he pulled it out of his ass, unless he doesn't know what that statement meens. He formed his own conclusion based on reading the thread and smoking pot.
