Buff/debuff descriptions

Post by Mental » Tue Feb 24, 2004 9:31 pm

Did not see this posted anywhere, but it seems that if you click some debuffs in god (I know it happens with Siphon life, unsure about others) it will cause a client lockup and an active character bug. I know it has happened to 4 other people i know who use mq2.

I don't know how to get a error report or debug it to post any error there may be, but I have been sketchy on clicking any more debuffs at raids in god to see if I can reproduce it with other spell effects.

It does not happen with chaos claws, so it is not related to all debuffs, so unsure what sets it off.

Happens to me and other users that I know as well; also zero clue what the issue is as for most everything else it works fine. EQ Client CTD'd for me.

If you could possibly attach a debugger that would be great. You could also unload MQ2ItemDisplay to not crash if you want, but that wont help the problem get solved ;)

SetSpell_Detour() isn't checking for a NULL return value on GetSpellByID(). Prior to the change on the 15th (CVS history) GetSpellByID would return NULL for any spell with a value greater then 0x1388. Spirit's Touch is spell 0x13BC, 0x13BC > 0x1388 hence NULL, hence deferencing a NULL Pointer, hence the exceptions.

This should have been fixed in the latest builds or there's a larger hidden issue.
