3/23/04 patch - duck and cover, hell incoming

Post by Benev0lent » Tue Mar 23, 2004 8:29 am

Oh yes not a week later, another new eqgame but wait, there's more!

They decided to make directx 9 manditory!!!!

Directx 9 alone is no cause for concern, but EQ's dependance on it really can only mean lots more EQgames in the near future.

All I can say is thank goodness for SOE's fast thinking though....
-We have added a new command, /rewind, which should free your character if they become stuck in geometry.
So well happy patch month and let us all hope no one gets "stuck in geometry" while targeted by something red (or yellow or blue for that matter!) and kos.

Guess what hotkey I'm making when servers come up?

being stuck in the landscape has very little to do with the graphics. It's based on collision, etc.

/rewind is being put in place as Guides are about to lose the petition queue. All customer service requests will be done offline from the website and will go into a central offline queue for GMs.

Customer service at it's best.

This is a surprise how? It's been stated again and again from SOE that they will make DX9 mandatory.

oh yay

Post by Benev0lent » Tue Mar 23, 2004 9:30 am

well that makes me feel even better then ......

*blink*

so I guess the offshoot to all that is if guides lose the ability to queue petitions, what purpose are guides? Petitions *were* the only official way to contact a guide right?

Am I missing something central here or can we /tell guides now?

The Guides I've talked to don't even know what their new function will be. No one really does, but SOE told them they won't be phasing out the guides. They will however be using their CSRs in India to help with the offline petitions.

Guides have recently been given commands to do more questy type stuff like /becomenpc, /emotezome, /height, etc so it looks like SOE wants them do more quests and less CS type stuff.

was happening to me last week but then i updated my system clock (apparently it was 10 minutes slow). for some reason, it seems phpbb uses the clients clock for post times (not just in cookies, which can cause a forum/post marked as read to show up as unread if your clock is slow too).
