Well, I have been reading these forums a lot for about a month now, and I decided I had better register. Anyhow since I am a strange person, and forums are a big thing for me, (my only entertainment at work) it took me a while to decide where I wanted to post first.
So I decided to post in this thread, and explain what brought me to MQ, and to explain what it is about MQ2 that sucked me in. My friend Eric has been an MQ user for some time, and I have always been very curious, but apprehensive about it. I don't want to be one of those HaXXorZ D00Ds, I just want to have fun playing my game, and have it be as emmersive as possible. What kept me away for so long was the fear of the unknown possibilities that MQ2 would bring to my gaming experience.
MQ2 has changed my gaming experience, it will never be the same. I cannot even fathom why I stayed away for so long, I cannot even stand to play without MQ2 when they put in a new patch. I just go to the forums and read the manual and compare it with the macros that some of you have written, trying to learn how to read them.
I have no programming backround really, other than growing up with a father and older brother who programmed with Clarion. My father eventually got into Oracle, so I saw some of that, but I am definitely not cultured in programming language. I have nothing but the most profound admiration for those of you who have created this project, and those of you who continue to update it.
I haven't found any macros that I have a use for yet, but I am sure that eventually I will. Since the new tradeskill UI was implemented I haven't been able to get the tradeskill macros to work, which are the only ones I need, god my wrists get tired from making ceramic linings and celestial essences. However the ability to see what level another player is, or where they are in relation to me is very important to me when I am farming hides for tailoring, or xp kiting, (On a PVP server).
I hope that I can eventually learn this interpreter language that is used in making these macros so that I might be able to give something back to this community. So I guess what I am trying to say, in my excessively long winded way, is Thank You for what you have done to enhance my Everquest experience.
