MQ2 bug, will not load into eq

MQ2, fresh compile from mq2-beta.zip

gives error box

"Incorrect Client Version

Tue Nov 25 02.59.29 2003"

dlls not loaded into eq(commands don't work. no chat window)

any fixes?

Edit: forgot to mention, using VS6 2003 Enterprise on win2k professional.
