Newb needing help :(

Post by Edgy » Wed Aug 21, 2002 8:39 pm

Ok here is what I have done so far.
Downloaded latest version EQMacro.
Extracted to D:\MQ20020706\MQ20020706 (default path when choose extract to D: )
Downloaded latest eqgame.ini and put it in above path. IE same directory as macroquest.ini.
Checked datestamp of eqgame.exe and changed eqgame.ini and macroquest.ini to match date and time ( was originally getting wrong version message, but this is gone now). Nothing else changed at all in these ini files.
Now regardless of whether I use EQW or just load normally, I get to the log on to server and press "play everquest" and it crashes with
"Everquest has performed an illegal orperation. An error log is being created." Click OK and I am back on the desktop.

I am running WIN2K SP2
512Meg RAM
P4 2.0Ghz
Geforce4 Ti4600 128meg with latest detonator drivers.
DirectX 8.1

Any help or useful ideas I would much appreciate. I have scoured the readme.txt (really I have :) ) and can not sort this one out.

Thanks in advance,

Edgy

ok, the default directory for extraction is <target>\mq-<date>
can i suggest that you delete the the current mq directory, download the MQ from the main site (macroquest2.com) and extract that to d:\ , then you should have d:\mq-20020726.

a clean install is always good

as for the eqgame.ini - the version of the main page has "ClientOverride=1" so you shouldn't of gotten a date mismatch error message, so grab a fresh version of that as well and put it in d:\mq-20020726 as well. that should hopefully fix that for you.

(as for the crashing if that doesn't help, make sure your using EQW version 2.3 and not 2.31. you can get it from www.eqwindows.com now)

I get the error even if I don't use eqwindows.
I will try a new Download install etc as suggested withoput changing anything and see how I go. Can only hope that the fact it has a double path is the crashing problem...somehow I doubt it though.

You're using the wrong version... go back and get 726 and not 706... unzip.. change ClientOverRide=1 and be happy...

706 was listed as the latest stable version. I will grab 726 and see what happens :)
Thanks for the speedy responses.

Yay! It works now in both normal mode and in conjunction with EQW. Made my first little macro last night that will train my monk.

Targets an NPc, FD, Stand, sneak, stop sneak, instill doubt, rinse repeat. Oh the fun I am going to have.
Thanks for the help guys.

Here is another Useful idea. Dump that Win2K nonsense and get WinXP Professional. EQ, and every OTHER hardware-intensive program you have will thank you for upgrading .. over and over again.

Microsoft will also thank you for adding about 500 megs of spyware.
