Why do you think I said I'd tell you who to deliver it to? :)

Virtue might be good for high level (46+) players ... but if you really want to rake in the cash ... find the LDoN merchant that sells Blessing of Temperance! Then you can group buff 6 people for the cost of 2 peridots.

It also leaves open the option for a Mass Group Buff Temperance!

Then you'll rake in the cash. There was a character study done once upon a time that said that 90% of EQ players never make it to 50. If that is still the case, then that Blessing of Temp may make more pp than Virtue.

I don't care what they're casting, as long as the Syndicate gets it's cut!

I dont really understand why it would piss people off to give someone an already compiled version, but then again i dont really know anything about that. If you really want something in return, i could give you plat in game or even make a donation i dont care, i just want to use MQ again and atm its off limits to me is all.

I can't speak for the other devs, but I don't give out compiled copies because it is a good barrier to entry for use. The last thing EQ and MQ need so for script kiddies to get MQ and through abuse of the features MQ adds causes SOE to crack down and break EQ enough that MQ requires months of rewrite to fix or add self checking code that tells them we are there.

Another very good reason not to accept a pre-compiled version is that since MQ is open source, anyone can get a copy of the code and add anything they want to it. Not least of which would be a keylogger or other less than savory tools that could let someone take control of your characters/account while you are logged in. An example I could envision: You park your toon in the bazaar to sell your goodies and leave MQ running. The evil person, through keylogging and memory watching has long since sent your server and character names to his email/EQIM/etc, so he creates a nice toon on your server (if he didn't already have an account), takes said account to the bazaar, pulls you out of trader mode, hands over all of your plat and/or some sweet items, puts you back in to trader with you none the wiser ... until you wonder where the money went. How would you explain that in a petition to a GM? "Umm ... I was using a 3rd party hack called MacroQuest ... and I think someone stole all my money" You could try the "I was in trader mode last night and when I got on, I was missing x items or x plat." Problem is, the GM will check the logs and see that you traded it legitimately. He's goign to say, "All trades are final. Take it up with x" (Which if the person was intelligent, would have been a temp character who was deleted immediately after accepting the items and putting them in the shared bank slots.

Now ... do you still want a pre-compiled version?

I'm not concerned about a barrier to use in order to discourage script kiddies. SOE knows we're here, and periodically they are gonna break us so bad it takes months of work to fix it. They've done it before, they'll do it again sometime.

If some script kiddie abuses MQ that bad he'll get caught and banned, and that will be the end of him. I doubt SOE will take it out on the rest of us, anymore than they have already.

I use MQ to automate repetative tasks that are hard on my aging hands, which have been messed up too many times and are starting to show signs of arthritis. And never when I'm not physically sitting in front of the computer and monitoring activities. My scripts don't farm merchants, shop, or even open bags and combiners for me.

I dev MQ because it's fun. It's intellectually stimulating, challenging, and increases my programming skills... which the other devs can tell you are pretty bad, but improving. :)

Now, if someone else wants to run unattended uber mob killin plat farmin macros, and get caught and banned, let them. Won't be my account going away.

I'll get off my soap box and make it easy. 10k plat, delivered to the server and character of my choice, gets you ONE compiled version, free of malicious code (which I probably couldn't write anyway without taking 6 months to do it.) The package will include macroquest.exe and eqlib.dll. The other files you can get from the zip file.

That's ONE compile. If a patch breaks MQ badly enough to require more than updating the offsets (which you have to do yourself), and requires more dev work and a new compile, it will be another 10k, again delivered to the server and character of my choice.

I don't take any of the money contributed to this project because I do it for fun, not profit, and because I make a decent enough living. I do encourage you to donate, because I'm sure the other devs can use the beer money. :) Mmmmm, beeeeer.... sorry, got sidetracked. I do accept in game plat, however, since the time I spend here is time I'm not playing and earning a living there.

One compile, 10k... and you probably want to wait till after the upcoming patch before you even ask which server, 'cause we got no clue what will break.

like i said, i have no problem donating, its an incredible program and basically waht you just listed is what i used to use it for. I 6 box manually, scripting simple things like heals and slows and bard songs makes my life oh so very much simpler and happier.

After tonights patch or whenever, send me a pm and ill be glad to oblige~
