I barely have enough faith in SOE to run EQ, let alone for my search purposes. I prefer Google.

BTW, EQIM still works, albiet its a piece of crap as far as IM functionality goes. It's nice if you have no other way to talk to your ingame friends. Would love to see the ability to talk to ingame EQ friends through Trillian.

Since you don't like the SOE search, here's what the SOE supporrt knowledge base said.
Here is the solution: EverQuest: I can't seem to find EQIM where is it?
We appreciate your interest in EQ:IM, however that program is no longer supported by Sony Online Entertainment. We apologize, but we can not assist you with the use, maintenance, or upkeep of this product.
The Pro version of Trillian has an SDK to work with to make new plug ins. I know that v2.0 came with a Jabber plug in. Just need someone to decrypt the serverwide protocol. Since they don't "support" it anymore, is it a violation of the EQ:IM EULA to figure it out?

Hrm, dunno. However, I don't know how many people would trust their station name and password to something like Trillian.

Still, it would be a pretty cool thing to be able to talk to in game friends and your guild chat thru Trillian. I wonder how much of the chat data stream is encrypted, if any.

The problem with Trillian is that there is poor support for the free version, in order to force you to buy the "pro" version.

How about a plugin for GAIM instead?
MQ2: Think of it as Evolution in action.

Why do I feel a new SourceForge project coming on for open access EQIM via the plugin-enabled messengers?

I'd help work on it, now if I can just stop playing EQ long enough to figure out the EQIM data stream.
