MQ/Eqw question

Post by Sojourn » Fri Aug 22, 2003 6:24 pm

I'm looking to run two windows of eqw while using MQ. Would this work ie would i need 2 instances of macroquest, or one with a code that would support both windows. Basicly I want to know if it's possible to control both characters at once using a macro (them hunting together),

If anyone has any clue on how this would/could work i'd very much appreciate your input.

MQ & EQW

I'll start by answering the easy question. You only need to run one instance of MQ. It will inject the mq engine in to each copy of EQ that you start on a given computer. So if your computer could handle it, you could run 4 copies of EQW at the same time and would still only need to start MQ once and each copy of EQ that is running would be able to run its own macro as long as only one needs to use the mouse (i.e. loot corpses, do tradeskill combines, forage etc) as currently, MQ relies on the DirectX engine for mouse movement and only the active EQ session will accept mouse movement.

Now, as far as scripts ... if you are going to drive one of the characters while the other one bots, that is fairly easy and there are several scripts in the Depot that would help depending on the class of the character being run as the bot.

If, on the other hand, you want both characters to automagically hunt together without any interaction on your part, things will get trickier. It would still be possible to do but you would probably need to write your own custom hunting group scripts.

I hope this answers your initial questions. :) Search through the depot to see what kinds of bots there are. You may find something close to what you want already made.
