Post by concerned » Thu Aug 07, 2003 1:03 pm

I just wanted to let the MQ community know that there is some little shit that is going around trying to sell a tweaked version of MQ with an AFK combine.. you know who you are! If this is a concern please speak your mind!

Also if any Admin would like to know who this is please PM me.. He is also getting info from FH and selling it...

I will not give the info to anyone besides Plaz or l12ard

Umm why would you not give the info to anyone else? the code is GPL so anyone that has contributed code to it has as much right to prosecute as anyone granted Plaz is the father but it has gone beyond plaz's code. but I will go let plaz know to read your post but something smells a bit fishy to me and it's coming from your general direction.

I'm not sure how well you know the GPL (and I don't claim to be an expert), but as long as he offers the source code with what ever modified version of MQ that he is selling he is NOT violating the GPL. It is NOT against the GPL to sell a program that is released under the GPL, but it IS illegal for him to not offer the source code (he may even have to offer the source code for free). So someone could either buy it from him and see, or just ask him if the source code comes with the program... and if it doesn't just be like "hey, if you don't provide the source code you are violating the GPL and can be prosecuted, perhaps by the EFF to help set case law pertaining to the GPL"

k, thx bye.

Like I said he has a version that you cannot get on these boards.. it has commands not found on here.. there is nothing fishy, I am trying to look out for the integrity of this community.. He odviously uses the base MQ which he gets from these boards and his offsets from FH.. then sells it to people with a combine that is done while you AFK.. I thought we where against AFK combines.. all it does is bring more shit down on MQ.. I dont understand what sounds so fishy here..

Like it's been said... I don't see why any person would want to BUY this program from someone else but the original authors and devs. First of all, we get updates with AT LEAST every patch. Then there's the in-between updates, which usually fix/add new features. Secondly, I think the "additional" features in everguide's version are the hacks, which are INCREDIBLY easy to detect and get banned for (speed hacks, etc). This reminds me, I wanted to donate via paypal. Incoming today some time!
