Invalid mappable command or key combo 'Ctrl'

What is wrong?
/keypress forward hold works as an example.

What I want is to be able to.. in essence.. have my Ctrl key pressed down, so that I always select single items.

/keypress name [hold] [chat]
keypress does not actually emulate the key being pressed and therefore will not interfere if you're typing.

You are able to use all keys and mapped keys in the EQ client.

When using the chat option, you must activate the text location you want to enter text in with the /notify command, then use

/keypress name chat

to enter the text. /keypress can be used to type in ANY text entry, not just a chat window.

See Appendix B for the list of mapped key names, or use the /bind command to see them in game

Examples

/keypress jump
Taps the key mapped as the jump key

/keypress forward hold
Holds down the mapped forward key

/keypress forward
Releases the mapped forward key after /keypress forward hold

/keypress a chat
Enters the letter a in the chat window or text entry location that was activated

/ctrl command
Execute a command while telling the window manager that the ctrl key is pressed. Can also be used together with /alt and/or /shift, as in
/ctrl /alt /shift command

This is the only other thing I can think of, but I can't think of a command linked to /ctrl. If i'm wrong tell me.

Same error applies for that. The Error is with 'Ctrl', not hold.

Could you try /keypress Ctrl in game to see if it returns the same error I have?

Looking back, I appologise for my post.

I saw that you posted part of the manual but that did not register. What registered was what you typed out yourself and that did not include the hold.

I'll try something really fast and see what happens.

Ok 2 things of note.

If not running in a macro I get an error saying that it is not a mappable key, or key combo. When /keypress Ctrl.

However, when run in a short macro no such problem comes up.

Thanks a lot for info AC1

Pretty soon I will be coming out with something I don't think people have done before--a combine macro where you press a key combo (for instance, Ctrl+X) to combine the items set in the macro.

If keypress hold doesn't work as well as I want, I can use /notify to change the Quantity to 1, and to accept the quantity.

I just had the same problem as the OP and found the solution.

First, MQ2 has a handy command called /binds that tells you what key combos are tied to what EQ commands. This list comes from the EQ client itself so if Sony ever changes the syntax, we all have to change our macros. Use "/binds eqlist" for a complete list of key combination/command bindings.

I needed to close the dynamic zone window which is mapped to Alt-Z for me. Using the bind list, I found that the proper syntax is:

/keypress alt+Z

There is no binding for just the control key on its own, so you won't find it in the list. The control key as a modifier is not a command on its own so /keypress won't work with it.

Also usefull is that if you want to skip the whole keybinding problem, you can use /keypress <command> with one of the commands from the bind list. This will allow your macro to run even if you are using custom key bindings. To do the same as above using the command would be:

/keypress CMD_TOGGLE_DYNAMIC_ZONE_WIN
