Yes, use the search feature of these forums.

That and update your eqgame.ini file.

MQ breaks with every patch. Sometimes it's a matter of updating eqgame.ini, sometimes more drastic steps need to be taken. Heck, one patch broke MQ for several months.

In this case, from reading the other posts <hint> in the Development::General board <hint hint> it will probably only be a day or so.

This is not a flame... but to avoid being harangued in the future PLEASE look at all the new posts before asking questions. Usually they've already been answered. On a patch day read every post that is dated for that day, that will usually take care of things.

by not releasing an exe whats to stop people from selling the compiled version ie mq gold i would much rather spend 20 dollars than going through the hassel of compilling and dealing with errors, the metality of trying to make something difficult but yet still accessable to the gen. public promtes capitalistic gamemenship " i think i will compile this and sell the exe file for 5 dollars to all those who want it" attitude

The GPL does allow selling of compiled versions, as long as credit is given to the people who wrote the code and that the source code is provided along with the binaries. You get in trouble when you claim the work as your own, either explicitly or implicitly.

If you take a look through these boards you will find that compiled versions have been sold for the price of an essay, and I believe I even offered to sell the compiled version at one time for plat in game :) Admitedly a LARGE amount of plat, and it turns out no one is on my server....

The reason all this went to source only, believe it or not, was not in an attempt to get rid of "newbs". It was done because the changes were coming so hot and heavy that it was impossible to keep everything updated, and because it cuts down on the number of people demanding a new version when a patch breaks MQ. In addition it makes people LEARN, take an interest, and put in some effort to get a working version, so they show more appreciation of the work done by others. We get a lot less obnoxious people screaming about how they can't get MQ to work, and a lot more people asking what they can do to help improve things.

BTW, the GPL does not state that the souce must be distributed with the binary. Just that it must be freely available and provided if requested.

A subtle but major difference.
