Unable to compile ISXEQ - other user(s) reporting the same

Hey all,

I've been unable to successfully build ISXEQ recently, and have heard others unable to do so as well (I use ogre eq1, written by Kannkor, which depends on ISXEQ - he's been unable to build it as well).

So let me preface this with saying that I'm a complete noob when it comes to vc.net / visual studio, but that in the past I have successfully compiled ISXEQ with some trial and error.

Below are the steps and results I took to try and compile, with vs2013,vs2015 and vs2017 (tried multiple because with 2017 I was getting toolset and SDK issues).

Please let me know if there's any additional info you'd like for me to provide.

1) Load VS 2013
2) Run MQ2Auth (double click)
3) Load ISXEQ2.sln into VS 2013
4) Build Solution
4.1) Build failure - The build tools for v140 (Platform Toolset = 'v140') cannot be found.
5) Point all projects towards v120 (obviously this may cause issues if code is dependent on v140 specifically)
5.1) Build failures (various - see hastebin: https://hastebin.com/asefiyazex.tex)
6) I'm too much of a newb to tell if those build failures are legit, or the result of being on v120 instead of v120.
7) Attempt to install build tools v140 for VS 2013, but they still dont show up as an option, not sure how to resolve.

3) Load ISXEQ2.sln into VS 2015
4) Build Solution
4.1) Build fails due to missing 'excpt.h' and 'sstream' (see hastebin: https://hastebin.com/enigiwoyed.tex)


1) Load VS 2017
2) Run MQ2Auth (double click)
3) Load ISXEQ2.sln into VS 2017
4) Get prompted to retarget: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4201/349 ... 4998_o.png
4.1) several 10.0.x options for SDK. toolset options are no upgrade or v141
5) Build Solution

Update. Looks like the missing excpt.h is not an ISXEQ-specific file, so I copied it from the VC/includes directory of VS2013 into the VS2015 and VS2015 VC/includes directories. Not sure why those files were not created during installation.

Removed/commented out some of the more basic errors (print statements using invalid members etc), and now we're left with:
