Macroquest 2 Windows 8

I have windows 8 and cant seem to find a compiler that would work for mq2 can someone point me in the right direction please? I haven't updated to 8.1 yet.

I've installed VC2013 professional but whenever I try and compile the MQ2Main it says it can't convert the project.. Any ideas? Google has let me down.

I use 2012 version.

The source files are sent using 2010 version.

When I unzip (heh) into my source folder and load the solution, the first thing I have to do is upgrade the 2010 stuff. For me the projects will have " (2010) " to the right of those projects.

I am at work at the moment but if memory serves...once the solution file in loaded in visual studios...right click on the solution file and scroll down the pop up window to upgrade VCC projects.

Once that is done (and there are no problems) then I compile.

Are you running into this error when your upgrading the 2010 files?

Did you run mq2auth.exe before attempting to compile?

Yup, it's authenticated - you can open the auth file and see the keys generated inside the folder. It's something with VS2013 - it says the following when it fails to convert: "MQ2Main\MQ2Main.dsp: Unable to convert project. Please make sure this is a valid Visual C++ 6.0 project."

Are you starting with the top-level MacroQuest2.sln project file or something else?

You have opened the wrong sln file.

You should open the one named VS2012-macroquest.sln or whatever it's called im not at the computer right now. If it doesnt have 2012 in it's name it's the wrong one.

Ah. So I opened and built the 2012 file - however, now that I have an exe moved to the C:\MQ2 file and other files, whenever I try and run it with the game running I get an error that says, "Open Process(8112) failed : 5 - Error in inject" and then nothing ever happens in EQ.

Any ideas?

The solution doesn't build any exe's, just dll's. What exe are you talking about?

Ah I managed to figure out my injection problem. As a result of some of the security measures I use for my windows account it wasn't allowing administrative rights to EQ as well as MQ2 - all fixed up and happy, now!
