Need help badly

Post by captainj2001 » Sun Jun 01, 2003 2:31 am

I can't for the life of me figure out how to complie this in C++ , this is of course because I've never used C++ before to do anything, nor have I ever programed anything before. Save your bullshit learn how to program posts though please. I am just asking for a guiding hand I suppose. Thanks again.

I'm sorry man..but if you don't know the first thing about programming, compilers, or visual studio then you really should go learn about it first before attempting anything. There are a lot of good books out there that will help you.

The CVS distribution comes with a project file for Visual Studio ...honestly, if you have Visual Studio installed on your computer and double click on the project file in the main MacroQuest directory..it should load and you should be able to click on "BUILD SOLUTION" and create your executable very easily.

Honestly, that's about as easy as we can make it without giving you a compiled version of it. The trick is though, that we WANT you to have to learn about c++, visual studio, and so forth in order to use MacroQuest

Time to Learn C++ VB and all those other goodies

Post by captainj2001 » Sun Jun 01, 2003 2:52 am

I suppose I've been putting off the inevitable, time to take my computer from my friends house home and learn how to program. Thanks for kicking my ass into programing though, I appreciate it when somebody would do that, although inadvertantly(spelling is way off there). /dance

well for the record, i had no experence in programming... except Qbasic.... and I managed just fine to get everything together to make it work.... just from people HELPING people.... I think that is kinda what a community is all ABOUT. I am determined to help all these "noobs" if i can... if i cant i would hope that you people that REALLY know what they are doing would maybe lend a hand to these people.... cause saying things like "oh this place isn't for you" or "go read a book" just scare people away from the "community" and we will never get anywhere. if we are TRYING to scare people away, let me know and i will stop helping people but untill then, let em come.
ya know, i cant think of anything profound to say here, so....

GO DEVS

Sorry man, if we were all about helping people, we'd just provide installshield installers with compiled versions of the program and reams of documentation and HOWTOs.

We're about people helping people help themselves, and that's exactly what my post did.
