a little confused

I've been using MQ for a while now and can download, recompile, move files in my sleep.

After HoT I was getting incorrect client version which I expected. I downloaded latest release and realized it was the same as what I had since my firefox download window had a (2) behind the name. I figured I was jumping the gun (usually latest release is changed to a ridiculously old date when it's not ready yet though). Couple of days ago, I saw someone using MQ2 (Assist was across zone but target ring was jumping around the mobs near me) so went to the site and redownloaded and it now had a (3) behind the name. I reran MQ2Auth, forced it to compile MQ2Main.dll again (visual C++ 6.0), and the batch build is fast with no errors, copied files over. Still Incorrect Client Version. What am I doing wrong?

There isn't an official release as of yet. There is a "beta" of sorts found in the vip section but stuff is still broken.
