compile troubles with vista 64bit

I just edited this wiki page: http://www.macroquest2.com/wiki/index.p ... :Compiling

So i just built a new computer and I'm having trouble compiling this for vista64 with vs c++ 2005 express.

Firstly, I couldn't install the windows sdk provided in the wiki link so i searched microsoft.com for the vista version of the sdk and found this. I installed it and followed the instructions in the wiki compile howto with serveral exceptions to account for the vista version of the sdk:

the executable file path is: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0\Bin
the includes: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0\Include
the libraries: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0\Lib\x64 (note that the x86 dir only contains wsdapi.lib)


So I try to compile and I get tons of link errors LNK2019 and LNK2001 and I can't figure out why. It is interesting to note that the .lib files in the x64 dir have capital letters in them e.g. Shell.lib and ComDlg32.Lib. I have tried copying those files (kernel32.lib user32.lib gdi32.lib winspool.lib comdlg32.lib advapi32.lib shell32.lib ole32.lib oleaut32.lib uuid.lib) to a new directory, renaming to lower case, and changing the filepath in VS2005 with no luck. I get 319 LNK errors when i compile MQ2Main so i looks like it cant find any of the libs but if i set the lib directory to something else i get different "can't open input file" errors.


Anyone have experience with vista64 and MQ2? I could use some advice. Is there a different SDK I should be downloading?

There was a patch for VS2005 for vista if i am thinking of the correct version. You might make sure you have it installed.

I downloaded and installed the "Visual Studio? 2005 Express Editions SP1" patch and "VS2005 SP1 Update for Vista" patch and still have the same results.

NOTE: An updated version of the Windows SDK that supports Windows Server 2008, .NET Framework 3.5, as well as Windows Vista is now available and also contains the Visual Studio 2008 C++ command line compiler. The updated Windows SDK is available as either a

* Web Install or
* DVD ISO image

I build on Vista x64 SP1 with Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition. I'm using the version of the SDK referred to in the note on that page.
