So today I get this big box of candy from my girlfriend whose studying in Bath, England this year and inside are lots of hazelnut-related candies. Some are German, some are Italian, some are English, and some are French.
What I'm wondering is why we don't have many hazenut type candies in America and WHY, overall, our candy sucks here. Specifically, our chocolates.
I've spent much time in Germany, and I noticed the same thing there. Awesome, awesome awesome bread, cheese, beer and food in general. Why do we suck in this category?
We've got people England on this board...I know cuz I sold one my accout. I think we should start a chocolates website or something to sell good candy in the US. Right.
I just felt like sharing about my candy, and I'm sure it really interested you all. Have a good afternoon. And...no, I won't share.

I know! It's because of all the bad restaurants, there are a plenty of restaurants selling over priced average food. In my home town, if you walk across the street from the McDonalds, you can goto this little indian food place parked in the parking lot. I can get, for the price of the Supersized Big Mac Value Meal Thing, a "special" and a plain naun. This is damned good food, and will last me 3 days, now provided the food quality gets worse as I microwave it, so me and a few friends will usually get one to split between us, each day of the week someone else buying the $5 meal.
There is also a hotdog stand another place down the street sells hotdogs, Now I grew up on Kabasa so I was insulted by their version of it, but that's because of my heritage, the other dogs they had were the best I've ever had.
Conclusion:
It's the fact that we strive for one thing: money, not quality. This is where the little stands beat out the corperations, the corperations make enough money to pay for all the staff members and supplies, however, the stands make enough money to pay for themselves as it is usually a family who runs it (husband and wife). They strive for quality and fend off a fair amount of people, selling it cheap enough to make the amount of product again and live (well), but also making quality.
