Asking for some honest help :(

Well here is my story i am presently a guild leader on 7th hammer server of a small guild i have been using MQ for 3 months now untill LOY release i have waited a verry long time since we lost so much when MQ wasent usable anymore, i couldent keep track of many things that was helping our guild avance, I have tried understanding all the new consept of compiling the files but, ill be quite honest i have never done programming in my life i tried to read up on it as much as i could but i feal like a fish out of water

If there is anyone that could help me with this either give me hints on how i may proceed or maybe send me their email so we could be able to communicate and get one compiled witch ever is easier. I thank you heartly whom ever will help me on this and my guild also thanks you verry much

You need three things:

1) Source code: Current file is SRC-20030308.zip.
2) A compiler: currently you can use Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0, or Microsoft Visual C# .NET. Porting of the code to a freeware compiler is not complete at this time.
3) Instructions on how to compile, which are posted in a number of places throughout these boards.

I don't know how to code either, but I do know how to fix furnaces and AC units very well. (Maybe not as glamourous as coding, but try living without heat or air conditioning sometime, you won't like it!) So.....I hope one of you coding MoFo's have a heating or AC problem on either the hottest or coldest day of the year and the repair man comes up to you and says " The answer to your problem is in this book, if you look for it long enough and screw things up enough, you might be able to fix it, but I doubt it." I sincerly hope that repairman is me!!

I'm sure you can buy a compiled copy.

In fact, I'll sell you a copy. Be at your computer at some time tomorrow between 06:00 and 18:00.

And, have a check for $600.

And, most likely, I'll have to replace your computer too at additional cost.

Oh, and the version you get will only work for a few days.

And, then I'll have to charge you an addition service charge to fix it.

Plus tax.

And, you realize, there is no code leak, but I'll have to come out and charge your system every month for more plat.

So try learning a new skill instead of bitching about it.

So you fix AC and Heat, and I can code... badly :) I can also repair a car, rewire a house, fix a broken APC, field strip a pistol, rifle, or machine gun, construct a database, analyze enemy troop movements, build a bridge or blow it up, defuse mines, administer first aid, rebuild a computer, construct small buildings, etc. etc.

In the words of Lazarus Long, "Specialization is for insects."

If you have the tools, i.e. a compiler and the source code, and at least make an attempt, I and many others will be more than happy to talk you through any problems your having.

If you are unwilling to try, don't bother complaining. We aren't being paid for this, it's a completely "do-it-yourself" project. We ain't QVC, we're HGTV.

Not to derail the heated debate...

For anyone trying to compile this please note that the compiler as previously stated

...or Microsoft Visual C# .NET

Is in error (easy to make since C# is close to C++).

You need a copy either VC6 (as correctly stated) or VC7 (more commonly known as Visual C++ .NET.)
