Despawned on my server as well. I suppose that will teach us not to post things like that here anymore. :(

Temporarily Dissabled

Post by Cha-Ching » Thu Jul 11, 2002 9:07 am

hehe, my "alt" account in wich I test macro's out with, got temp dissabled last night due to this macro... funny thing was that I was ACTUALLY doing the quest for about 45 mins to see if it would draw any attention, afterwich I just ran the macro, then not even 10 minutes later I see "YOU HAVE BEEN SUMMONED" but I was only outside of the flying saucer thing, and the GM just said "please end your macro", I tried to make pretend that my keyboard was just stuck, and started typing random letters, she didnt buy it, and just gave me the "your account has been temporarily dissabled for 7-10 days for using 3rd party software to manipulate the game, if you have any questions or problems with this please contact eqaccountstatus@station.sony.com"

So in short, dont use this. BTW I made about 310pp in this time, and it's not any faster to use the macro because you have to wait for the NPC to respond.

friends account got disabled too

Post by sempi » Thu Jul 11, 2002 3:54 pm

My friends account also got disabled yesterday for doing this. I didn't hear the specifics, but I know he wasn't at the computer at all. So a GM would have known it was a macro without a doubt. I still have to talk to him about it, I figured it out when I tried to login as him and got the disabled msg ;oP

For all of us that got only suspended, we should be terribly glad we're not banned.

And, I'm sure this quest npc will be nerfed now. I wonder what they were thinking when they put this into the game. And, I am sure we only got caught because of the high profile that we were running.

Salutations,
I would have to agree...
Also it might be in the number of people that seem to have done it. I think macroquest in itself might have to high of a profile, or users that just don't know that one shouldn't be obviously macroing. A friend of mine found out about it when a group member said he was going afk but he would look like he was playing since he had macroquest running, after asking what it is he simply pointed them at the MQ webpage.

Good lord, never mention MQ to anyone! God dang, a post needs to be made letting everyone know that using MQ can get themselves banned! We need to strive to keep our community tight.

When I get busted when I had /if $gm==TRUE /call crap

something is wrong!

That's cause they are gonna drive to your place and do it in person. Smed will barge in wearing camouflage fatigues and wielding a lap top with wireless internet so he can disable your account while you cry on your knees for mercy.

Or you won't get caught.

Who knows!

Salutations,
Get PGP, use the wipe funciton for all deletes. It writes random bits over the place where the file was making it completely un retreiveable...

I think its less about GMs & sony knowing about existance of macro programs - I think most of the time you get caught because other players report you for suspected macroing using petition & report. This macro is the easiest to spot.

and yes - i think u were lucky only to get temporary ban - its nice to see they were leanient tho!

What we need is another one like Jum Jum that apparantly made 12k an hour!!! Now thats worth getting a temp ban for!!!

Friends account is.. well.. read

Dear player,

Under normal circumstances, account suspensions last between 7 and 10 days unless the account is under review for closure due to sever policy violations.

Currently, this account is under review for using 3rd party programs to play the characters unattended.

Sincerely,

EQAccountStatus

all I can say is... OUCH

aye they perma killed the npc. My friend found out about the exploit from a post on his guild message board. that is how i found out about it. seems there was also a Guide in my friends guild and he passed on the info on the exploit to the GM's and that become a hot spot they would check. i got a warning on my alt account because they didn't know i was macro'n. it was nice while it lasted. i made 20k off of it.
