Punishment for hacking?

Punishment for hacking?
I was recently accused of "hacking" on EQ and some dumbass petioned me. How do GM's go about finding out if I actually hacked or not..and what is the punishment if they do?

I've been lucky, on the progressive servers I was suspended twice. Said I warped or zoned illegally. Fist time I sent an email and when account came back all my characters on progressive server were deleted. I didn't use anything to get the experiance they had, and I had worked trades also. I did however use the zoning a couple times.
Second time it was banned I got it back about 2 weeks later and I didn't send an email like the fiorst time. all my characters were still there but stripped.
The characters on the other servers were never touched (Thank God)
I have my main account on Druzzil currently and I have other high characters on FV and Prexes and some mid level on bristlebane. All toghether I have about 40 alts floating around andc have opened a second account (which I did when the first ban started) and am still using 2 accounts.
I play nice and hardly use mq2 but I like some of the little extras that come with it, especially the docrack see under water, noaccel for mounts etc.
I still die in groups like I normally would LOL, guess I could cheat and gate my paladin out or something at the last instant but that kinda takes away from the thrill. I used to group with a wizard who would be oom and medding while I would hold off the mob til the last second and he would nuke it and we were done. though it didnt always work :)
Guess it depends on what you are doing and who catches you. I have heard the ban stick can be severe. so severe that they ban your IP address and any accounts you have are all gone, or you can get a slap on the hand which is what I kinda felt I got.

Log Watching
They will also watch your logs. If you kill a big named mob or raid mob they can review the logs and ban you that way as well...
